Mudguard 17inch wheel.

I popped round to Steve’s this afternoon to take a look at his mudguard and it looks really, really good. Some observations:
- Much more OEM than mine as it retains a lot of the styling cues of the original 19” mudguard.
- The clearance under the fork bridge means you can clean in there which prevents some of the opportunity for corrosion that these bridges often suffer.
- Slightly longer at the rear so much less spray attacking the front of the engine

My only reservation is that I really wanted a carbon one to match the Ilmberger carbon hugger at the back. However, if the CF version doesn’t happen, I’ll definitely be looking to get one of these since they’re impossible to find otherwise.

Nice one, Steve. It was lovely to meet you 😊👍

Personally, I like the back end of these but I wonder if the front looks a tad out of proportion. It's as though the OEM 19" mudguard has been lowered rather than something that's profiled for the 17" wheel. I measured mine to see how far it comes from the fork bridge.

What is the fastener situation on the fender stays behind the fork leg? Does one fastener secure the caliper at proper torque while holding the fiberglass in place?

The fasteners for mudguards and brake calipers are totally separate.

No Paul I’m afraid. Was just about to put an update on. He’s a lot on at the moment and is getting on a bit. He said he’ll let me know when he can get to it.

Right folks a retired engineer friend of mine is in the process of completing a mould for the 1150 GS 17 inch front wheel conversion.

I did my conversion some years ago and the look of the standard mudguard has always annoyed me.

Anyway let me know if there’s any interest on here and once completed I’ll post up some pics.

No idea on cost yet.
