Having given in to an impluse purchase of a 2610 (up-coming European tour etc....) I still wish to keep my Quest 1 operational.
The 2610 is supplied with V8 and the Quest runs v7. Can anyone tell me if I can ruin two copies of Map Source on one Pc or will its little brain get confused.
Or is there a simpler alternative??

Why wouldn't you want to put the latest maps onto your Quest as well? :nenau

Garmin allows you to download your maps to 2 units. :thumb

Apply, online if you wish, for a second unlock code to run CNv8 on your Quest

You only actually have one version of MapSource on your PC but after a second map product is installed you get a drop down box in the top left of the window to enable you to select the mapset that you wish to view/load

For the time being I have CN4, CN6, CS6, CS7, CN8, CN8NT, Hungary, Adria Route, and a few Topo Maps installed in MapSurce so the answer is yes, you can have any number of maps installed. :)

Does that mean I have to register - I seem to remember reading a discussion about waiting until V9 comes out and I would like to get the latest version - good point about the two units - is the quest and 2610 Mapsource requirements the same - given the small (243Mb) memory of the Quest I've a suspicion newer version = more memory hungery map sizes.
Finally, has anyone thought of opening up their Quest to add more memory?

Yes you have to register, so no free upgrade next year for you

As well as upping the internal memory you would also have to modify the firmware so the unit would use it. Good luck
