I have just fitted the extended rack for the topbox, and have had to remove the pannier rails to do so. I don't seem to have the fitting instructions for the rails and so do not know the recommended length for the MR bolts.
Can anyone help with the dimension please?
As an aside, When I picked the rack kit from the dealer the parts guy said 'Have fun fitting that' as I left. I soon discovered what he meant as the kit comes with two stick on templates to allow the cutting of rear underseat plastic so that the two metal supports can bolt to the rear of the main frame. The instructons include a warning not to use 'angled cuts' as this may result in pressure fracture of the rather expensive - I suspect- plastic cover.
The whole tail cover and original rack have to be removed to fit the extension plate and to cap it all the two new bolts for the metal supports were missing!
Thought it would be a 20 minute job, took two hours and I still need to get back to the dealer to get a couple of replacement bolts.
Also, does anyone know whether I will be OK travelling through France and Spain with a Remus exhaust (with Y piece) and the baffle removed, or, will it exceed the legal noise levels?
