Hopefully going on a BM off roads weekend and they require you have MX boots, what's a good pair, with out looking like a storm trooper :augie and not breaking the bank :D

Hein Gericke TRG boots (formally Tuareg but they have a softer version with same name so they changed it)
£129 ish but they do have them on offer quite often

Alpine stars Tec4 , around the same price.

Check for steel shank in sole if looking at cheaper boots- there are some cheap brands that come out at about £50 but they don't have a crush-proof sole so they seem a bit silly to me :)

Prob stating the bleedin' obvious but, if you are getting them especially for the off road course make sure you wear them for a few miles before the course as they will, firstly, feel a bit odd and cumbersome if you aren't used to MX boots and, secondly, 'cos they will need to break-in to get comfy.

Once you've had a 12 land on your leg and it not hurt, you won't mind looking like a stormtrooper afterwards :thumb

I say get the best protection you can afford, it's almost a case of the more stormtrooper, the better!

I have a pair of W2 motorcross boots up for sale only used 2 times size 43 going cheap which could be used for your off road course pm me if u want
Sean

I also noticed after I posted that they have the Tech 3' at an even cheaper price.

A tip for you Les ( given to me by another tosser) is not to get motocross specific boots as they usually have quite a smooth sole. You want Enduro boots as these have a better 'proper' sole which will help you when walking up slopes , standing up and picking up your bike etc when you fall of :thumb

There is (when I looked in the summer) an enduro soled version of the Tech 3 availableas well as the MX soled one but they're not as common.

So go on, whats the difference to Tech 3 and 8, do I need 8 :mmmm or is the 3 good enough.

I have been using some wulf sport (superboot) mx boots for i think 6 or 7 years, and they are still in good condition, even with mx riding and off road, only thing i did do, is remove the metal toe guards, as they scratched the hell out of anything i swung my leg over:blast
they are fairly cheap 100 quid ish, maybe worth a look?

Good boots for the price the only problem is that I Tec 8's.:JB

Well I thought it was slightly amusing.

:blast

I think you may be alone in that opinion. :augie

Les, Tech 3's are a very good boot for the money, Denise has a pair which she now wears in preference to her road boots. The Tech 8's have more "features" than the 3's, and use an inner bootee type fitting. They are aimed more at the frequent user/competitor. Or you can go the whole hog and get Tech 10's for about £350.00.

If you are not sure whether you will use them again either off or on road i would hire a pair, unless yer minted in which case 8's or 10's :thumb2

I have had 8's for 6 years of hard use, top boot, wanted 10's but the 8's won't wear out, used em on me GS aswell, broke em in walking to the pub an back.

Only downs i found they aint waterproof and you know you have them on
