With the legal system so keen to make money from prosecuting people for liable, slander et al, I am inclined to keep my suspicions or otherwise to myself.
No arguments with the legal issues attached to everything in life these days. But on this particular point, I don't see how it can spin back to you.
You are a customer who feels that his engine might have been damaged by the service shop. There is probably no evidence so you can't (and it looks like will not be) making formal complaints. However, the service supplier should be made aware that their systems could be at fault and need to be at least checked for gaps. I believe @Womble makes a very valid point.
