My day out on unknown highways........................in God's Country

Great pictures Johnny - Gods country indeed -
Some have posted for info and routes
You may be able to visit your local area's Definitive map on yer computer

http://derbyshiremaps.derbyshire.go...arker=&zoom=&back=&pc=&layers=&sl=&sf=&sv=&p=

this should be Derbyshire this may give you the routes - but TRF or locals would be able to give advice on difficulty of some of the lanes/byways
Dont go out on yer own unless you are very good and know where yer gowin
that would be my tip :thumb2

Or is it a case of joining rides and picking it up as you go?

That's what I did 20 years ago and works for me.................however I'm in touch with the latest info on closures

We're lucky to have mainly UCR's (unclassified county roads) in Yorkshire, which weren't hugely affected by the NERC bill

Echoed Mick

If you're a novice, go with a mate

The stuff I pick now, is pretty straightforward and if it's a bit tricky I slow down..................wouldn't want to be marooned:eek:

I've had my fill of handlebar swallowing bogs or having to lift/carry the bikes over rockfields, like we did 20 yrs ago.......................I'll leave that to the KTM heroes

I now prefer a scenic day out, on relatively pleasant rocky lanes

Great post Johnny
Sounds like a great day out and with such lovely scenery around you I bet you're never at home. :D

Feck me, you'll be buying a twin shock next:eek::rob

Really enjoyed this post, have fond memories of trail riding. Would echo later posts, best to go with a friend as however good you get mistakes can happen. Having stated the obvious I loved jumping on me bike and saying I`m just off out to find a muddy track. Join local TRF do some runs in good company , mark your maps up and enjoy.

My parents were born in Yorkshire and I'm now adopted and naturalised:augie
