... went BANG. Well, I think it did.
I wasn't in the room, but I heard it from the kitchen, jumped up and came over to the 'puter, nothing to see so I carried on. Then found snotty goo under the mouse mat. Took off the battery cover and there was only a tiny bit inside, but a fair bit on the cells and the + end cap of one of the cells was bulged out a little bit compared to that of the other cell.
The funny thing was that I wasn't even using the thing at the time. It's a Logitech cordless one with the red light rather than a ball, so, really, it's in an idling state rather than simply "off" when it isn't actually in use. The cells were Duracells, can they really go bang leaving so little distortion, there weren't any split seams or anything other than the end cap I mentioned, and even that wasn't obviously distorted if it wasn't sat next to another cell.
So could the cell really have gone bang?
