OOOOOOO
Super duper Alternator upgrade.
Ideal for previous 1200 owners to fit all the HID's they had on the 1200:rolleyes:

Doesn't do anything apparently so you'd be wasting your time :augie
One quite cool aspect though is you can leave the standard ignition in place. "backup" I would quite like to try one as my bike is twin plugged and it has a different switchable map in it for twin plugged engines.
If you were travelling overseas you could have one ignition timed for good fuel and one for low octane fuel !

Its on

All fitted and working. Good, detailed worksheet from Enduralast so everything is straightforward.
I didn't like the screw together connections they supply and used spade block connectors with all wires solder on:)

Getting rid of all the old gubbins makes it nice and tidy in there.

I have no room in the location they suggest for the reg/rec unit so I located it under the tank in the relay bracket, having moved the relays to the front, outboard position..

While I was pfaffing with the electrics, I put some 280000mcd leds under the headlight

and fitted the "lower" mudguard that I have meaning to do for ages

I left the San Jose fork brace on and made spacers for the mudguard to clear it. Not sure if I like the look or not...

reg rec

Hope that the reg-rec gets a decent airflow there, as it needs to lose the heat build up. (bit like the old zener diode, but not quite so sensitive i think)

Bike looks good (tho I prefer the higher mudguard look.... but each to their own)

Ride safe

I was wondering the exact same thing -I have my volt reg/diode box fitted to the RH side, near to the battery, behind the panel. Gets plenty of ventilation there, and is close to the battery for the +ve lead, and have earthed it directly to the battery as well. Apparently having a good solid earth is vital for the correct functioning and longevity of the controller box.
Have had my EME version on for a couple of thousand miles now, and seems to just work! Bit pricey but well worth it in the cold weather - heated jacket, heated grips, HID headlamp, and sat nav, and no battery drain. Oh yes, and no dodgy rotor either :thumb

You got me wondering about that. Last thing I need is a fried Reg/Rec.... so.... Sent photo of mounting location to EME and received the following reply from John Rayski of EME:

Yes - this is a good location for plenty of air flow and proximity to
battery.
Many other customers have also mounted this component there as well.

Good enough for me:D

I also read somewhere that you "lost" the charging light... Not with this one. Has a wire to connect to the blue wire that used to go to the alternator.
I will fit the voltmeter I bought anyway:blast

I put mine in the same place as yours although I mounted it on 2 of the rubber standoffs. This moves it down into the airflow a bit more and helps with vibration. Havent had any problems so far. Have done about 30k since fitting.
