MyRoute Navigation app updates

4.3.5 is now available to test, though there seems to be no parallel announcement on the forum.

HERE is the map MyRoute uses. I have no idea what SDK is. I assume it is Geek Speak for ‘map’ or some sort of specific trademark, unique to HERE’s map?

It's the Software developer Kit Richard, to develop and add features into the HERE mapping platform, so not quite sure how we mere mortals can actually test that bit fully. Perhaps they've added some more features if using the PREMIUM HERE maps and want more testing of those over and above TomTom or OSM for example. They will probably post something up on the forum soon.

Thank you.

I guess the maps themselves have been updated or at least in as much as the way that MyRoute ‘talks’ to the map has maybe been altered? Anyway, we shall see if it blows up 😳

When you say “deal with” do you mean that waypoints can kept in a waypoint file or folder and used across any route or track?

Or just that you can plonk a waypoint down wherever you like?

Waypoint management is a real weak spot for MRA, or at least was if this update fixes it.

Will have to have a look at this. While planning green lanes previously you had to select "car" as mode of travel and click in the "landrover" to plot a waypoint in a lane.
Once opening in NEXT it would state route violation and request you use a track. The way around it was to download it to your phone and then open it from there.
Hopefully this does away with all that faff.

I've been tinkering with the latest version of the app for the last few days on Android Auto both wired and wirelessly in the car. I haven't had any stability issues and I think that heating and energy consumption are much reduced. That said the longest I've had it running so far has been half an hour.

This (4.3.7) includes long awaited update for Android Auto/Car Play and track navigation.

They are also promising a complete overhaul of the navigation home screen and interface plus a completely new tour generator in the late Spring & early Summer.

Just tried it out on the bike using the Carpuride 702BS. I think it's a big improvement. It's great to have a zoom function in AA now, although it doesn't work in the same way as the Garmins by simply turning the wheel. You have to select an icon, click it and then select either plus or minus. I don't want much do I? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

As important is that the route is not 'zoomed in' too much and now gives you a better idea of where you are heading. I'll try it on the Chigee as well tomorrow.

There has been quite an update in the Navigation app released. Now available for Beta testing.

I quite like the latest update.

To me at least, it now seems more logical, without the screen becoming too busy. On a large iPhone, at least.

This expands the usefulness of the app 10 fold, allowing you to do many more things that were previously only possible in MyRoute’s separate RoutePlanner.

In brief:

There is more to come in future updates, including better syncing between RoutePlanner and the Navigation app.
Evening Sir can I ask please I am a Gold member how do I upgrade to this new version please

You need to be on the Beta test programme, which started (I think) in December 2022.

Just be patient, the official releases come around pretty fast.

My Route app 5.1 is now available.

There is a good upgrade for AA/CP users as you can now select your starting point on the AA/CP screen either by selecting start or nearest or selecting a specific waypoint. You could only do this on the phone screen previously. It also has an altitude/direction widget. I used it on the phone yesterday for a 162 mile route with 37 waypoints and via Android Auto on a 82 miles route with 67 waypoints (it's a little backroads lanes route). One of the roads today was closed and re routing worked fine. In fact nothing significant to report it worked as it should.
