I hadnever owned or even driven a vehicle with Apple CarPlay or anything similar.

Now that I own a vehicle with the system, I thought I’d give it a go, displaying MyRoute’s Navigation app via my iPhone. The results? Excellent.

The phone, powered via a very good, Peak Design mount, suffered no overheating problems, whilst the app performed excellently well.

Marks out of 10? 10/10.

Are you tempted by one of the newer devices which allow CarPlay on the bike as an alternative to a traditional satnav

I like the apple car play. Choices for MRA, Google maps and Tomtom to choose from .
Plus a nice big screen on the bike to display it on.

He bought one a while back .
Think it might still be in the box .
Good to know MRA works on CarPlay .
I’ll carry on using mine then , like I have for the last few years 😜

I did indeed and it is.

I still like my Garmin XT which, now that I have got around to mounting it onto my Himalayan, I use.

I am now on the hunt for a mount to go onto the Himalayan, so I can mount the Chigee thing down on the cross-piece of the handlebar. I see no problem running the two devices at the same time *, or running one without the other. They each have their advantages, disadvantages and quirks. I think that Mzokk does something similar on his Honda.

* I did this in the car, simply as I had no idea how Apple CarPlay worked and I had three other cars following me down the D roads of France and Belgium to Spa. It was a self-inflicted baptism of fire. We survived, without so much as a singe.

Why not just use the mount in the box . Similar results

Thank you.

I hadn’t even opened the Chigee’s box.

I have tried the Chigee and MRA navigation and found it very power hungry with your phone battery. You need either the phone connected to power or a power pack. I’ve gone back to a tank bag, which is a pain at times.

All nav apps are power hungry .I’ve not found MRA different to Google or Apple Maps

I have the phone powered by the bike. My phone runs MyRoute without closing down due to overheating or flattening its internal battery.

I’ve been using MRA on Apple CarPlay for about 9 months now and find it great. It did have some serious battery drain issues even when the phone was powered but putting the phone into low power mode seemed to fix that and not impact the CarPlay.

They seem to have fixed that now, I went all the way to Greece and back using MRA with the Carpuride W702 although I’ve recently been sent the CHIGEE which definitely brighter and smoother albeit with a smaller screen.
