Mysterious engine stopping..

Hi to all I'm new this site and a relatively new owner of 2003 r1150gs. Recently on a longer run I stopped off for a coffee on returning to the bike it started as normal and run sweet then mysteriously it seemed to lose power and it stopped. Checked to hear if fuel pump was priming and it was bike fired up again but my return leg home was less than confident. Some days later nipped out for a short spin again and same thing happened, any thoughts or suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks

check the plug rhs under the cover , this feeds power to the fuel pump . had this happen in deepest darkest France , quick squirt of WD had it working again.
has the cable tie to the ign switch been cut so the cable is free to move.

spray it and break/make the connection a few times to be sure.

Do all the instrument lights stay on when the engine stops ?
Was it parked on the side stand or main stand when this happened ?

All ignition lights remained on, engine actually cut out as I was riding the bike.It felt as though I had run out of petrol which wasn't the case.

Just turned 42k...Bike was serviced 200 miles ago all filters except fuel filter...Auxiliary belt was replaced with the service I'm ordering a fuel filter and going to try and fit it myself...Not terribly mechanical myself unfortunately..

Is it a twin spark engine or single spark ? …
Twin spark main coil caps are notorious for breaking down ..

Remove plastic rocker covers/protectors on both sides.
Pull off lower secondary spark plug caps.
Then start engine .. does it start ? Does it run on only one side ? Does it run normally ?

Your problem isn’t the usual cause of a failed main cap coil(s)
But I have had a couple bikes that both main coils had failed for a while, and the lower secondary plugs were sooted and just about worn out.
