How do,

And 'yes I know' this route has been mentioned many times - but just rode it today (11/10/11) for the first time - the highlight being the 47km from 'Sort' to 'Adrall' - billiard-table smooth, constant radius bends & views to die for, and some quality 'air time' if you get it wrong!! 27 deg C, and clear blue skies.... :beerjug:

Took the photo a couple of km East of 'Sort' - it was just starting to get interesting!!

They must of finished all the new sections by now ;)

Ah yes!!

The old 'Furnace du Soleil' (or someting like that) at Font-Romeu - stumbled across it in 2009:

Thought I'd wander'd onto a James Bond film set...... :aidan

The N260 section that runs from 'Sort' to 'Adrall' is fine - the section that I rode earlier today, from 'El Pont de Seurt' was pretty crap for the first 10km or so, but improved as progress was made - again, some great views....

And here's a straight road!! The D613 approaching Belcaire (East of Ax-les-Thermes).

This area of the 'Plateau de Sault' is frequented by the Gendarmerie with their speed-traps - I've regularly been travelling through the area for the last three years or so, & every time I've come accross 'em - so far caution & sometimes good fortune has kept me ticket-free :aidan

One of my favourite ever stretches of road, I don't think the Pyrenees has the same density of great roads as the Alps, and it is a much smaller place.

I have found better roads in the Alps, but this is probably my favourite ever road for sportsbikes. It is much better than the B500 and far less congested.

Must remember to go back one day.

OK, SO I`m THICK. ill ask the obvious stupid question. Duuu, where is it ?.

Spain :friday Near the hilly bit near france Pyrannesesezsessss

Spain?? Well, almost - if you 'Google' this bit:-

"The D613 approaching Belcaire (East of Ax-les-Thermes)"

You should get the information as to the location..... it's deffinately in France though, if you need further assistance then PM me, more than happy to help anyone new to the area - as 'Rasher' said, it's a bit more off the beaten track compared to the Alps, but it's still a great place to visit.

Cheers, GB :aidan

Yes rode it in 2006 and back again in May this year..............superb isn't it !!

Nice !

I like the D117 from Foix to Perpignan best meself
Hairpins dropping down into Quillan
Then the Gorges of St Georges to Axat
Then beautiful fast twisties all the way down the valley to Rivesaltes

Magic :thumb2

+1 :thumb2 That section is one of my favourites anywhere in Europe - fantastic fun on my K1200S in 2007

Thanks guys, going there on the 20th, and have put roads/places in the sat nav after struggling to find out what the best of the best is around that areas. We are staying a few miles outside of perpignan for 7 nights, so this will be great for day trips.

Route from tunnel is Chinon to Le puy-en-valley then to perpignan. (with virtually no motorway)

Cant wait....
