XJR.GSX,CB....1300 ok guys bruv is thinking of buying one of these beasts,i know nothing about them,so have the collective any experience of any or all of these bikes, which one is the better tool,he wants to do a little touring on it,around town, day out stuff,i know whichever one he decides on is gonna need some kind of screen.so id appreciate any info i can pass on.....:thumb2

Had a GSX 1400K4 for a few years...Fast as fuck, torquey as fuck, comfy as fuck, boring as fuck.
Hope this helps.

Have had an xjr1300 and a cb1300.
both great bikes, would say cb was slightly better, silky smooth powerfull motor.
had a small screen on both. barely noticable..

Ive had both the XJR 1300 (used) and the CB1300SA (new) they are both ok the honda was the better bike but very heavy on fuel, overall I got fed up after a very short time

How was the wind protection on the SA ?
I had the naked version. Loved the bike apart from the lack of wind protection, so was considering an SA as my next bike.

Cheers,

For those purposes - I'd be looking at the BMW R1200R.............. :rob

Much more useable, handles better, takes neat luggage - and better resale value I think.

Al :)

I am 5 11 and with the standard screen it was poor, I put an aftermarket screen on it was slightly better but ruined the looks of the bike

had 2 cb13s, the naked ones.pulls like a steam train and holds the road like shit to a blanket.my missus wants me to get shut of the gs and get another one.probably will one day. j ps. honda have stopped making the naked one.

Thanks guys,Gundog did the little screens help some with higher speeds, never having ridden one im guessing up to 70 they are fine naked, but anything over that must be a fu@ker to hold on to,so does fitting a small screen make a difference.bruv doesnt ride like Eddie lawson, but he likes his arms the length they are,and he'd like to do a little twoup touring on one.

Maybe helped a little bit.. still get plenty of wind blast at 'high' speeds..
but they look quite neat...

the one on the pics above is a Puig..

Personally i'd rather be on a naked above 70 than something with a screen that was constantly beating out a rythm on my head with buffeting. The honda, good mate had one, exhaust rotted through and fell off after one winter he then got an xjr which he liked great lively bike. Suzuki the same great torquey bike but not as good handling as the xjr. I've ridden all three and liked the xjr the best but found the tank range crap. Has he considered a zrx1200?. I dont get the perceived best build quality with honda's, my family owned a honda dealership for many years and the durability of the finish is no better and in some cases worse than the competition, they are mechanically very good but so are the other japs and having ridden through many winters on all but a suzuki i'd say kawasaki and yamaha come out better with the same amount of care.

Spot on :thumb

I've had 2 XJR1300s and now have an R1200R and it is the much better bike.

As you say it handles better and the luggage system to use hard cases doesnt consist of an ugly monstrous Givi pannier rack like you need on the Yam.

Also when i ride with others on XJRs i use about 20% less fuel than they do

My Blue CB1300 .. completely naked ... had for 4 years and was just fantastic .. not so good to commute in the winter .. you can keep dry but can't keep that cold out on a bare bike ! Quick bit of kit and in the warmer weather was a real looker. Get one.

I had a GSX1400 it certainly looked the part, was ehard going on the M way even with a wee screen fitted, i'd have another just for blatting around on but not for my main bike........

Only two you should consider. The Honda X11 if you want the fastest, best handling naked ever, slight iffy looks though:blast and the Kawasaki 1200, in green if you want the best looking.

If you must go for a XJR, go for a carb model with original exhausts!

get naked

forget the boring stuff get yourself the one and only Suzuki b/king 1340.:augie
