Nav 3

If it stays that cheap then maybe a bargain, but missing a few bits i.e instructions and how upto day is the mapping?

Are Garmin still supporting this device?

Me? I would look at a 550 or 660, whitebox or secondhand.

Whats the story if you buy one of these without the cds or license number.
I guess it works fine on the bike but you are stuffed if you want to update/run on pc etc - or am I wrong?

That's generally the case yes, it also prevents you having the mapping on your PC in Mapsource which pretty well defeats the purpose of this type of sat nav making it a point-to-point navigation device rather than a proper route plotting/navigation tool. There are probably dodgy workarounds for that though. Even so you'd be stuck with the mapping that the unit came with and being discontinued a few years ago it's likely to not be particularly current unless the owner has updated recently.

If there are no CDs or on-paper unlock codes but the seller has the unit registered with Garmin and is willing to transfer the unit to you in their eyes then the prospects are much better. You would be able, once registered to you, to buy a mapping update (lifetime updates can be had for less than £50 now) and bring the mapping bang up to date and also write the mapping to your PC for use in Mapsource.

In these days of downloadable updates and on-line myGarmin accounts the CDs and on-paper unlock codes are no longer required.

:augie as always.. buyer beware .. as we have had this discussion too many times before that a Tosser and his beer token can be easily parted on eebay :D .. so, is it legitimate ? .. does the seller have it registered with Garmin in their own name ?, do they have the colour slip with ident number on it ?, will the seller.. register it to you if you give 75 beer tokens ? .. if no to any of these point's then look elsewhere.

The cradle needs a mount attached, and round base attaches (four hole fix pattern) and RAM-B-149Z-G1 would be suggested handlebar u-bolt mount for a GS (it also has the cradle screw pack).

That said it may very well be genuine and the seller may be a member of this parish .
