Did a map update download on Sunday and my Nav V says:

CN Europe NTU 2018.10 3D

CN Europe NTU 2018.10 All North

Garmin said that ALL map updates were done but I saw no mention of South as I've read on here that Europe is now split into two.
I don't want to go on tour and find out my maps stop halfway down!

Any help much appreciated.

After this I tried to go into Basecamp to check it all but it kept coming up with errors and wouldn't open - now I'll have to find out how to unistall it all and then try downloading it again!

What a pain!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Plenty of threads in the relevant forum about this, having trouble myself with finding southern Europe to load, I've also got just the north installed and no mapping in France etc,

All this software is great when it works and a bloody nightmare when it doesn't!

Send Nutty a PM he can point you in the right direction ( or the wrong one depending on his updates)

Hi

Having spent nearly a day with different mac's, SD cards, installing deleting formatting, I gave up. I intend phoning Garmin this PM to waste more of my time.

Make sure that all your firewalls are turned off or set to allow Garmin

I had this issue last week with it hanging at 51% turned firewall off and hey presto

Nutty resolved the problem by downloading the relevant Garmin software to a 'new' computer (his wife's PC) and then installing the maps afresh to his Navigator VI.

He assures me that he now had Europe North AND Europe South, installed and working. I can only assume he is correct.

I'll trust him, and you.
I'll have to make sure I uninstall Garmin Express fully or it'll probably still be a mess. I only play with this once a year, and it's about a year since I last looked at it, so we're both rusty. I couldn't get the loaded Basecamp programme to open either!
The joys! :beerjug::beerjug:

You shouldn't need to uninstall 'Garmin Express' just update it.

I had the same issue when the latest version of the maps became available, the lesson that I learnt was to always update 'Garmin Express' before attempting to update the maps.

After all that time, I've downloaded both map sets using GE. The only variation I hadn't tried previously was turning the firewall off.

With that off, the maps erases from the unit and SD card formatted, it worked straight away.

Its either a case of fucking stupid technology or fucking stupid old operator :rob

I did an uninstall and reinstall with Garmin Express last night and now it doesn't even see the Nav V!
I'll have to do it all again!

Thanks Khulu for the heads up on 2018 map, set it off to update both PC and Nuvi and went to bed :thumb2

All updated this morning, old mapping deleted from PC, Nuvi locked itself up twice as it always does after installing new mapping , two hard resets seem to have sorted it (as usual...).

BTW, I have a supplementary microSD card in the Nuvi, a small one by todays standards, all the mapping fits on there :thumb2

Sat 22.04.2017 - uninstalled Garmin Express and installed the latest version. Success, I believe.
clicked to download maps to Garmin and, after 4 hoursish, it said I was all up to date. Checked the Nav V and it said the same as my first post than ALL North was loaded, no mention of South
went outside for a signal and no South exists.
Sun 23.04.2017 - did a download to computer, another four hours, and it said it was all up to date but I can't find the maps in the usual files! Computer does not now find the Nav V so I'll buy two new data cables at lunchtime and see if that works.

Where is South hiding and why won't the b****** download?????????????????:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I've got a month to get it all working and make routes before I need to use them and I don't do "last minute".

This is where my method of route planning is vastly superior to all this Basecamp malarky. I sit in the bar of wherever I'm stopping and make marks all over my Michelin maps with a yellow highlighting pen then get on the bike and wing it until I'm somewhere near my chosen destination when I put the address into my satnav. If I'm worried that I've got to go through a city where I might get into a headspin I scribble key points on a bit of paper and put it in the map pocket of my tankbag. Yeah, I'm a luddite but that's what makes life interesting :D

Another bonus is that Michelin maps are cheaper than a new satnav and if you throw them on the floor in frustration they don't break.

Its pretty sad when a software developer cant make their stuff work with a firewall. It's not like firewalls are optional extras and everyone else seems to do ok.

I actually do the very same as you do!
I got my Michelin maps; typed out my route itinerary (day by day) which includes road nos. and towns / cities I may be, roughly, heading to.
I bought my NAV V last year and have only used it for the one trip and I like the facility of a backup to my backup. I found it useful when riding Alpine passes as it showed me the level of twisty corners when it was foggy!
When I spend a lot of money on technology I expect it to work hassle - free! I know, slim chance! :beerjug::beerjug:

I feel your pain, see my thread in the nav v forum, I need to have another go soon as I'm off to France at the end of next month,
I still can't find an option in map updates to install southern Europe.

I've now no idea how to download southern Europe either!
I'm the same as you and head to Mugello for the MotoGP end of May and I'd like to create routes, and access them on my Nav V, too!

This is basically my approach. The Sat Nav is great for finding a particular house in a particular street but after that they are worse than useless.

Last week we stayed three days in London and used the phone sat nav (on foot) to get us to the flat we had AirBNB rented. Apart from crossing Hyde Park I have no idea of the route we took and would probably not find the place (on foot) ever again.

I can think of nothing worse than plotting every turn on the PC than slavishly following it . How is that a holiday trip?

If I was delivery driver then yes, but a professional won't be using rubbish like Garmin BaseCamp.
