Nav Wheel Problem

After several weeks of not needing Satnav I put my Nav 5 into position yesterday, it asks if it should adopt car mode, I answer no. It then works & charges but seemingly is not communicating with bike

The wheel thingy does not operate the satnav functions by either the revolve or nudge across methods.

Everything looks ok, nothing obviously broken. None of my mates have this kit so can't swap over to find out if its Nav5 or bike at fault.

It does want me to update maps (but I routinely ignore that on all satnavs until the night before a long trip, just to introduce some jeopardy).

Any clues?

Perhaps try taking the battery out of the gps, wait a few minutes reinstall and try again.

The wheel failed on my 1600; they are not immune to faults.

Start with the easy thing. Carefully clean the contacts on the device and on the cradle.

Any good, now? Yes? Great, job done.

No? You could try taking the wheel apart but that's a real faff. Better to return to BMW, they'll probably replace / mend it for free.
