This is going to tough to explain but here goes.

when riding along, or typing in an address, it is almost as if another finger is touching a part of the screen. eg. if I want to type in the letter "E" the letter "P" will keep appearing. Similarly IF I do get an address and i'm riding along, the screen will change due to it sensing a touch

A poor description of a problem I know., any ideas?

Martin, I'm just waiting for my Nav III to be returned from having been repaired for exactly this problem. The problem is with the digitiser, the clear glass layer immediately above the screen which determines where you are pressing. I searched all over Google for a replacement but whilst there are plenty available for Zumos there are none for the Nav III or 2820 equivalent.

The good news is that these people: http://www.satnavrepairservice.com
have been able to repair mine for £50 + postage. (Thanks to Humbug who found them.)

My 2720 did this, progressively getting worse until the GPS seemed to have a mind of it's own. Took it apart and cleaned the part of the screen under the bezel and the inside of the bezel itself which solved the problem which was a small amount of grit/road grime that had gotten trapped and was obviously applying pressure to the screen. Worth a try and won't cost anything.
