Just a quick heads up -

Navigator travel insurance is no more

The business has been acquired by Voyager insurance who are a subsidiary of Sommerville insurance

Lets hope they offer the same cover / understanding as Navigator did ...

If you look at your policy, Navigator was a broker selling a policy administered by Voyager so I doubt there will be any material changes

Maybe they can bring the price down, cutting out the broker? I got a quote earlier today as my annual policy is up for renewal soon. 3 times the price of my current Axa policy via Tesco, and that was before going through the medical screening.

For a 6 week 2025 tour of Portugal, Spain and France @ 69 years of age, I was quoted £307 by Voyager.
This was for the enhanced cover at £154 + their action plan add-on for a motorcycle and longevity of tour.

try Allclear, Tesco & Puffin. I'm a little younger but have medical stuff and move between these 3 for an annual policy. Currently with Allclear Gold which has a standard 45 day limit per trip and includes motorcycling as standard at Gold level. £61.37 to cover Europe including Spain & Portugal. They have higher levels of cover if needed.

Normally travel insurance covers up to a month max. Anything over comes at a premium.
As with last year when I used BeMoto travel insurance for 6 weeks, it was around £165 for a 2nd tier policy. As with their bike insurance I found out, any problems and it was a dilemma going through different sub-companies.

When I were a lad, this and breakdown cover never entered my mind riding in the EU.

I’ve just had a quote from Allclear but under motorcycles it says it covers you for an adventure holiday but then excludes personal accident and personal liability.

almost every travel policy will say this in relation to bikes

personal liability is part of your third party cover for the motorcycle so they will not duplicate it. Run over a nun in Rome and she claims on the third party bike policy. Tread on a nun's habit whilst walking in Rome and she falls down some stairs then she claims on your travel policy personal liability.

in insurance underwriter speak, personal accident insurance is a specific type of cover for the lasting effect of an accident after you have been patched up by the separate medical cover. Many people confuse these two different types of cover.

Check your bike policy for personal accident cover, most have basic cover e.g. if you lose use of a limb or an eye but many have a bundled personal accident policy, just like you might have legal or helmet cover as separate elements.

The travel policy will provide medical cover after a motorcycle accident i.e. the ambulance costs, emergency room cover and treatment to get you well enough to go home even in a medivac aeroplane. It will also cover costs to get you home if you snuff it.

Thanks
I didn’t think it through.
