I can’t speak for the lead time if you need a new battery but installing one couldn’t be easier. It’s a 5 minute job from the moment you put the new battery on the table next to the unit until you put the unit back in the travel case and bin the old battery.

Me too! I emailed them saying that it was pretty poor and just to tell me if they weren't going to make them any more, it was, after all, only £13... and they seemed quite affronted by my tone! So I look forward to next February

Bit of a while since your post, but have you tried the tweaking of the pins in the batteries plug to get some useful charge into the battery?
It does indicate full on the screen after charge. Never heard of the tweaking you speak of

Ha! Good old Garmin! They have just cancelled my order and refunded my £13.

Did this ever get answered as battery in my Nav 5 looks like it’s done it’s last shift.

Pretty sure I bought a replacement battery off EBay. I can't find it in my purchases though!
May have been Ali Express but I can't see it there either, but this one has the same Garmin number as a battery on a BMW spares site.

Lots of nav 5 batteries on t’interweb.
Same here. I've had a few Garmins over the years. Currently on an XT, but the only one that drops its charge while it's switched off is the Nav 5.

True. But, a device with a duff battery is, well…… um…… er……. dead, so it’s maybe worth a punt, if the genuine article isn’t readily available.
