NavV in a tunnel

The vehicle keeps moving, the map keeps moving but the speed stays constant, even if the speed isn't constant . Obviously no gps input but the bike must be inputting movement, but not speed. Can anyone explain this observation ( from some long tunnels nr Geneva )

The gps is smarter than you and guesses that if you've gone into a tunnel, there's a pretty good chance you'll keep going

The GPS will carry on thinking it is still traveling at the same speed/direction that it was when it lost the signal.

If the tunnel is long enough it will eventually tell you it has 'Lost satellite reception'

That's what every other GPS I have had has done so I'm assuming the Nav V is the same....

How do you know that, are you psychic ?

Like all the new generation devices from Garmin it knows that there is a tunnel there, it does not guess. It therefore does not give the "lost satellite reception" warning and assumes you are travelling at the speed at which you entered the tunnel.

Mine must be the exception, as it regularly flashes up that it has lost satellite reception in all sorts of tunnels and / cuttings.

Sometimes, depending on the tunel's length, it will give up moving the cursor along, too. It will then catch-up with itself as I emerge into the light of the Lord's glory... Or the dark, depending on the time of day.
