Thanks Mistacat. It's actually quite possible the spots are led and I'm getting mixed up with the old 1150 that converted to led.Voltmeters are very cheap and easy to wire in.
On a 2011 bike I am surprised the spot lights are not LED , they are on my 2012 GS a lot of power saving to be made there.

I hope the rest of your journey is trouble free and safeThanks Mistacat. It's actually quite possible the spots are led and I'm getting mixed up with the old 1150 that converted to led.
The bike is fixed! About to leave here after doing the payment... Interestingly, the main guy here said - in his view/knowledge - that 20A is the max additional load. While 23A was the max draw of all accessories they're never on max, if I was at say 15-18A then with the age of the bike etc. it's all on bit of an edge!
Anyway, can I ask where you picked up the contact points to wire in the volt meter? I'm definitely fitting one!

As an alternative to an analogue meter, or digital meter, I'm using a battery status monitor. Its just a single LED. Takes up litle space on the dash.

I had one of those on my Pan, great for peace of mind or a worry gauge, depending on how you look such things! As an alternative to an analogue meter, or digital meter, I'm using a battery status monitor. Its just a single LED. Takes up litle space on the dash.

. Don't know how he's done that so something to work out over the weekend, unless he's blown the fuse somehow?!
Probably to make the whole thing compact - less wiring .
I have had several Yamaha XT 660 Z ,s over the years and one of the few known faults was failure of the reg rec .
When I got my first one it was obvious what the issue was , - very exposed at the front of the motor and the plug when removed was usually coated in verdigris , solution clean , fill with ACF 50 occasionally - job done
Also worth mentioning , on my 1200 ADV TC - it never cranked fast even when I bought it with only 800 miles on it . Fast forward 55000 miles and it refused on the button one day .
Starter out - properly disassembled - cleaned - new brush box - tank off earth cleaned = starting but still slow , I put in an extra new earth cable - bang it was like it should have been when it left the factory the earth cable was surprisingly thin for a 1200 cc twin cyl .
Great result, thanks for keeping us updated , even for us that haven't been able to help. We've all, I'm sure, been rootin' for you.I'm back home! Yay. What a saga.
I was blessed with total shite weather from Metz to Reims, but it was 8°which felt like summer compared to the beginning of the journey.
Temps were up to 11° by the time I reached Calais. All a big blessing because the dealer has detached ALL accessories including the market lights. Don't know how he's done that so something to work out over the weekend, unless he's blown the fuse somehow?!
Riding back from the tunnel up the M20 I got a yellow triangle... Took me a minute to work it out. It had lost contact with both pressure sensors. Stopped on the hard shoulder, switched off. Waited a few moments. Switched on. Seemed ok but some miles later it returned. Then the warning disappeared but no pressure for either tyre. I think I'll disconnect the battery over they weekend and see if that resets it all.
Before I sign out on this saga. I have to thank so many of you for chipping in. This forum is priceless. Big thank you
I'll be back with some info that I learned soon but in another thread.
Thanks all!

Good that you’re homeThanks. It's good to be home
Presence is help!
I travel alone mostly - end destination is always full of family/people- but the in-between is usually solo. No one I know shares the love!
At moments like this week, just being able to reach out to other heads and get thoughts is beyond useful

It may be worth just sticking a new battery on after all that too.

Thought of this too - had a bit too much time on my handsGood that you’re home
Maybe go through all your accessories and decide if they’re all really necessary

Did you actually end up with a new alternator or just the regulator packThought of this too - had a bit too much time on my hands
Heated seat might go. The rest stay. But actually, the accessories are fine, there is enough excess to run my particular list.
What will go are poor earth points - all will be checked, cleaned etc. It now has a new alternator and with a new battery, I personally think all will be fine. Remember, I've been using the heated clothing on this bike for over 8yrs... Age of the bike has been a big contributor to this story, though I know some sniff at the accessories - heated clothing is really the only big draw on the system, but even that is never on max anyway.
The whole thing! It was a dealership rememberDid you actually end up with a new alternator or just the regulator pack
, no half measures from them.
