They do have motorcycle dealers and tyre dealers in France and Germany! It isn't the back end of beyond out here!!
Chances are the dealerships will be shut on Monday morning, through until lunchtime.
Quickest way to find one? Borrow the hotel's (or any hotel's) Yellow Pages and look up 'Moto'. You'll find all the dealerships listed. Or do it on-line http://mobile.pagesjaunes.fr/search...nts-concessionnaires&where=briancon-05&type=B
You can also Google 'moto' or 'motor pneu'.
Find one that looks hopeful and ring them up.
If you have Breakdown insurance, your insurer's service agent may be able to help you, too.

thanks for that wapping its always difficult trying to get something sorted when you cant speak The lingo, it took a while to find someone who had a tyre, but was on my way again by 11am, and 160 euro lighter, still these things are sent to try us.

Not speaking the lingo is half the fun. How did the early explorers ever get on? They didn't even know there was land out there, let alone foreigners with whom they might have to banter and barter. Great to hear that your day turned out better than Captain Cook's and you've got your tyre.
