Need new suit - recommendations please

I have just been in to see the guys at Adventure Bike Warehouse in manchester, as I am over from Germany at the moment. They showed me both the Badlands Pro and the Latitude suits. They took lots of trouble to check sizing, fit and comfort, including sitting on a bike and getting me to add layers to check that it would still be comfy in winter. Absolutely no pressure to get me to buy the more expensive jacket and trousers.

Anyway, after trying on everything, a good mug of tea and a chat about anything and everything, I bought the Latitude jacket and trousers. VERY pleased with my purchase.

And I can definately recommend the service you get at ABW.

Klim looks a quality bit of kit. i will report back when I have tried it in the rain!

Two weeks and STILL no rain?? :D

Seriously, have you tried it in the wet yet? :thumb2
Been having a bit of a heatwave here of late. But I can confirm that all the various zips in the jacket and trousers do a good job at keeping you cool. And have had one ride when the heavens opened: totally dry. Not a hint of any wetness inside the jacket or trousers.

I have also had more time to look more closely at the jacket & trousers: they are extremely well made. Lots of pockets and nice features. And, for me, they offer a very good fit.

Highly recommended. Unless you really need the additional features of the Badlands Pro, then I cannot see why you would need to pay the extra.

I should add that the Badlands Pro jacket is a heavy beast, probably because of the additional features like the chest armour etc . So the kidney belt that is part of the design would seem to be an essential item to help take the weight off your shoulders& back.

The Latitude jacket is much lighter and I just found it more comfortable.

I am sure you would be very pleased with either jacket, but what I am trying to say is that I could see no reason to pay the extra for the more expensive jacket. And I am still really pleased with my choice.

And the guys at Adventure Bike Warehouse in Manchester (well, Agecroft, Salford actually) were really good at offering advice and getting me to try both on.

Ok, I've seen the Rukka jackets. Only one appealed to me - the most expensive!
It was really well built - looked really tough - made my old Gericke Tuareg feel lightweight! It has the waterproof membrane in the outer jacket, and has the crutch strap that I found really good on my old hein gericke Tuareg jacket. It was a bulky jacket - and a tad long in the body for me. Also, I'm not sure about that rubbery front zip. While trying it on, the zipper opened - and I wasn't forcing it or anything.

Tried the REvit Everest - I liked the way that you could take the thermal liner out, and leave the gore tex liner in. But it was too long in the arm, and didn't have enough pockets.

Not tried the Klim yet - who stocks them in Gloucestershire or the midlands?

I am not sure if I will find what I'm looking for. I basically want a replacement to my HG Tuareg, with ample pockets on the jacket and trousers, and a waterproof lining. In fact, my only complaint about my Tuareg jacket is the fact that the waterproof lining is part of the thermal lining. The belstaff long way down jacket seems to be getting closer to what I want.

I am really impressed with my Klim Latitude jacket & trousers. Well built, plenty of ventilation, a proper zip down the front. Light(ish) weight (certainly compared to the Badlands Pro) and waterproof

I have had a BMW comfort shell suit for 3 years now. Never let water in, it has the Goretex laminated to the outside so it doesn't soak up water. Comes without any liners so I use merino in the summer and a micro fleece when it gets a bit cooler. Still looks good after thousands of miles. Good venting in the summer. Can't recommend it enough, I guess it's very similar to the Dainese suit that Poucher uses. On top of everything you won't look like a twat!

Never had Rukka/Klim..

I can highly recomend the Halvarssons Odyssey/mercury jacket & trousers.

Never too hot or cold (at 35 degreees or in snow!), lightweight not bulky (this may put you off at first), waterproof on the outside (repels water/dirt), Hi-art (although Ive never had to test this)...

Dont discount them because of the strange name...
