Need panniers, what to get

I have a 2011 F800GS and want some panniers for commuting and blood running. I have no plans for world travelling so metal is overkill. Ideally something narrow, top opening.

I saw something on a police spec RT that would do.

Please make recommendations

Not sure if Givi stiil make them, but have a look for Givi E21 side cases, they are plastic with a top opening lid. They are also narrow & if i recall, quite cheap! Good luck.

The only other top opening ones I can think of are the Trekker cases, but they are probably too big for what you want.

I was looking at the E21 cases, cheap and top loading...

I found a cheap set of SW Motech Trax boxes... never looked back. Packed loads into them, does make the bike pretty wide though.

I have the SW Motech frames and Peli-Storm cases.they are not top loading but are very tough and waterproof.I believe Peli do a top loading case but you would need to check dimensions.

They are not as wide as this picture suggests,in fact they are only about 1" wider than the bars.

I bought a couple of 20mm Ammo cases recently from army surplus store.... 15.00 quid each.... bargain & bulletproof!

you said no metal..... I presume due to cost.... but these are super-cheap!

The Peli Storm cases are IM2400 and IM2450.The narrower one(2400)going on the exhaust side,this gives a more balanced look.The cases came from

The fitting kit came from Caribou cases in the USA and an excellent piece of kit it is as well.

I know they are alloy cost a bit and prob too big for you but they do do a smaller "city" version .

They appear to run in at about 1/2 the price of other major alloy panniers

They do look good ... black lids on gun metal grey bodies on a silver F650GS Twin

Just bought a 2011 800 30th Aniversary Model, loving it so far. I plan to fitt the Givi Trekker Panniers and possibly Top Box. Are their moounts available that will allow me to fit a Peli as a top box on Monokey Mount?

Roger from ARD cases fitted these in May. They worked a treat for the trip to the IOM TT. Chuffed to bits with them.

Yep, that's my bike in the photo, cheap boxes if a little heavy (I don't carry a pillion so no prob there). I fitted the boxes to a Givi rack. Just done a European trip with them, very happy, and they were cheap too.

erm..what about ordinary old Varios? They do fine for me!

I looked at Varios at my local Motorad dealer and they are just too big and too expensive.
