Neutral indicator switch problem

Quick question for you knowlegdeable peeps

Neutral selection seems ok, but sometimes the light won't come on despite neutral being selected. A tap on the gear selector and the light comes on and so it seems something ain't right.

Any ideas?

They all do that sir....dunno why though

another oddity is if you slowly lower or raise the side stand at some point the neutral light comes on too

Do they also sometimes stall when you put the side stand up?

Only done it once, but very odd.

Maybe a dirty connection? Give it a good spray of switch cleaner.

mine does it, its in neutral but the indicator isn't showing. Tap on the gear lever solves the problem.

Only time mine will stall is if i put it into gear with the sidestand down, doesn't matter if the clutch is in or out.

My 2006 has the same problem but the "tap on the selector" in my case means getting off the bike and rattling the selector up and down for a while until the light co-operates and allows me to start the bike. It's going in next Wednesday probably to have the selector switch changed. Reliable kit innit? Fuel pump controller replaced 200 miles ago. Beginning to feel wistful about the R100GS I once had.

Is the indicator swith internal or external to the gearbox?
