New 08 GS1200

Picked up my new GS1200 on Monday, trading in my old trusty R1100RS. This will be my fourth GS and two years since I had my previous one, also a 1200. What a revelation. There are some really subtle changes on the new model which enhance the ride no end. Ultra smooth and the gearbox is really slick despite being new. In fact the engine doesn't feel tight at all. Sticking to 4k rpm for the first 600 miles the natty on board computer tells me I am averaging over 55mpg! Awesome. I think I will be having some fun on this bike and I was assured that they have got the gearbox, final drive and everything else that went wrong with the earlier 1200 sorted. Time will tell! I had forgotten what a heavy bastard it is though, especially compared to my other pride and joy, a Ducati S4RS Monster.

I've been amused by my gas milage thus far - even on a... *ahem* spirited ride through the country lanes chasing a mate on an R1200S I got 46mpg, which is slightly better than my high-speed motorway cruise rate...

I have been pleasantly suprised by the MPG on my K1200GT high 40's.
Makes a big difference on a run, I can make Connemara fron Dublin without stopping for fuel.
