Hi Tarry,

After killing three batteries in the last five years (my fault, I'm not known for TLC....) I've taken the plunge and got an Odyssey battery for my 1100. Not cheap, but if it lasts five years, cheaper than 3 'ordinary' ones. I can't speak from any experience of my own yet, it's still sitting on the living room floor waiting to be fitted; but the collective wisdom (??) of the tossers on here suggests that this is the way to go...

Not seen any 'bike batteries at Halfrauds, but see above anyway...

Dave.

I would go for a cheap pattern over one of those odyssey ones... seems a false economy paying more than double the price for a battery that will only last the same amount of time... of course to justify the price they up the life expectancy.

Motobins do an exide for £44 for your bike... given proper care with an optimate it should last for 3 years or more.

so £44 for a battery that will last for 3 years - or £100 for a battery that will (in theory) last for 5. mmmmmmmm

Hi Tony,
given proper care with an optimate it should last for 3 years or more.

That's the operative phrase; I think there's a lesson there somewhere that I need to learn! :blast

I did get my Odyssey for seventy quid though...

Dave.

I've found the odyssey isn't any better than the bmw gel battery. I've had the two and the bmw came out better over the years.

And you'd be unlucky to get less than 3 years ( usually more than 4 ) from the BMW battery.

I think the odyssey is a case of the emperors new clothes :augie

BMW battery is approx £80, with a two year no quibble guarentee and requires no terminal alterations, it fits straight in .
