New bike pics and thoughts

In reality there is a massive difference in the experience between riding my LC and riding my 2010 twin-cam - this new bike is light years ahead of the 1150 - it isn't just about practicalities it is about fun too and the new bike has this in spades and this is why it is worth the money.

You can't argue with that, enjoy:thumb2

The new GS is mass produced and has economies of scale and price, just like a car

The 1150 may be old, but if we toured together, both bikes would complete the journey at the same time, go to the same places and see the same things

Yours maybe a bit quicker, lighter & more fuel efficient, but with similar traffic and road quality, no doubt we'd travel within 5mph of each other over a 300 mile journey

In reality ...............there would be little difference:bounce1

:blast What is the point of that statement? I could go to the continent for instance in my Corolla but would I rather go in a BMW 5 series, yes I would?
You make the point that we would probably get there at the same time so why did I change my 2006 gs to a twin cam, well it's because I thought I was getting a better bike.
Your point tells me that you must be watching a black and white tv because who needs colour? The programmes are the same.
I think you genuinely think the LC is expensive as I do but you can't afford one! If someone offered you one against your bike for no money woud you say no?:blagblah

Your point tells me that you must be watching a black and white tv because who needs colour? The programmes are the same. That's not a fair comparison

I think you genuinely think the LC is expensive as I do but you can't afford one! I could write a cheque this afternoon from my savings account, for a new 1200LC - if I wanted one, could you??

If someone offered you one against your bike for no money woud you say no?:blagblah Maybe I would, I have 2 1150GSA's (and reduce my ownership running costs) which I could swap for 1 new 1200LC, at no cost to change, if I fancy one after I ride one at the end of March - whether I do or not, is up to me

Have you got hiccups, you're repeating yourself:rolleyes:

The bike is priced at £15000+ because people will pay that much for them.

Maybe BMW are covering the fact that with increasing competition volumes will be lower? The risk with premium pricing is that the products needs to be premium, lets hope so.

I picked my new GS LC up from Jeffries at 9.00am this morning.

I then took it for a 140 mile ride calling in at squires café for a butty.

Initial thoughts on the bike are firstly the engine...It PULLS LIKE A TRAIN. Totally different to my 1200 gs adv I have ridden over past 6 years. The clutch is really light and the gear change a lot smoother. The journos slagging this bike off must have had a hidden agenda because there was no sign of 'tank slapping'. I would recommend anyone with a current gs to try the new one and break open the piggy banks :D:D.
Gonna do another full day tomorrow around n.yorks ( weather permitting ;) )

Rainbow are limiting ride to 2hrs how come you can have a full day?
How tall are you cos the GS looks very small whilst seeing that picture?

I guess if you hand over £13500+ they'll let you have a bike for more than 2 hours !! :blast

To many people biking is an enjoyable hobby....if you buy the bike for 15k...then sell/trade it in 3 yes later for say 9k, biking costs you 2k per year plus fuel/running costs say 1.2k ( assuming 6000 miles per annum ). That's just over 3k per year and in par with many other hobbies in Motorsport. After all you can't take it with you and there may come a time where you can't ride and wish you had in the earlier years :beerjug:

Spot on.:thumb I could think of more expensive hobbies, without a fraction of the fun:rob

never had any issues with it on my last adventure for keeping air topped up. LC should be the same.;)
I like to use a gauge with the dial and hose. Very convenient and precise. Put more air than necessary, then bleed of some. Do you know if the clip-on tip will fit between the valve and the inside of the rim? It looks awfully tight in there.

Delighted your enjoying Bill, see you soon for your 1st service. Mad busy day at the office, i will be relaxing tomorrow on the Demo around the Dales..much fun to be had. Enjoy, Steve.:thumb
Blimey, are you all giants in the UK?

Looks nice - I'm interested to see you've got the varios on yours, Chandlers told me they weren't available yet. I wonder if any dealers actually have them in stock?

Cheers
Jimmy
Mine, in Montreal, does. But absolutely almost no Touratech accessories, depsite their pages of advertising. And no delivery dates either.

I went to watch the bike coming out the crate this morning, and was not disappointed.:D Here's a couple of pictures

While I was there, the service manager said they wanted the bike in the workshop this morning so they could crack on and get it ready for collection first thing Saturday. So we wheeled it down, then went and chose the registration. And I cancelled the LED aux lights, and added the Akropovic exhaust, as you can never have too much noise!

Roll on Saturday (please don't rain or snow)
