New Bike

Is that officially confirmed?:nenau

BMW will never confirm of course otherwise nobody would buy the current model, so the answer is no. However, back in April this year I read an interview to a BMW guy (Hendrik Von Kuenheim) announcing for 2013: two big trail bikes (my guess is one road-oriented vs. another traditional one with 19-17 wheels like the current GS), one sports-tourer, one sportsbike (K6 maybe?) and another one unknown, maybe an electric model.

The interview was published in Motociclismo, an Italian bike magazine. Italy is a huge market for the GS, possibly the biggest.

I personally believe something will happen, but can't be confirmed until Köln or Milan shows later this year.

Enjoy the twincam in the meantime :thumb I am proud to own the last BMW airhead boxer engine, maybe... :D

Wait

Try buying a Morgan sports car, some one I knew a few years ago had one
you put your name down after about a two year wait, then you can order it.
and a couple of years later you get it!!. He put his name down two years later they said you can now order your new car!, sorry he said, my wife had a baby six months ago and now I can't afford it!!. Had a ride in his old one, like a high speed series1 landrover with no seats definatly a macohists motor!.
So, things could be worse!!, I had a 3.5 months wait in 2001 so brought a very low milage german import as some of us did now at 87,000 going strong on original clutch and gear box.

How long does it take BMW to build a bike and deliver it to the UK, I ordered a new GS 3 weeks ago and was told it would be about 1 month, I phoned yesterday to see if there was any news, and was told acording to their computer it was still in construction and they didn't know when it would be in. I know I'm probably being a little impatient, but a month to build and deliver seems a little long to me for a company that must be able to knock a fair number out daily and probably ships weekly to the UK, Anybody with similar experiences ?

well in answer to my own question, I placed my order on the 14th of May, The bike landed at the dealers today, and will be ready to be picked up late next week. which will be 5 weeks.
I thought as you got older time moved quicker, but the next 5 or 6 days will probably drag on like 5 or 6 weeks.
But at least it's at the dealers now, nothing can go wrong now ?, CAN IT ?

Well unless they stick an apprentice on it and he drops it and dents a few panels and breaks a mirrow and they have none in stock and have to order them.

Seriously though good luck and hope the weather brightens up so you can take it out and ride it.

Ordered mine on a Saturday, picked it up on the following Thursday :-)

What exactly did you order, as I understand it, they build to order, and so I imagine if it was allready in the country it was a cancelled order, or a demonstrator that hadn't actually been used for that purpose ??, maybe

R1200GS

Same old story - I called a few dealers yesterday asking about availability on a 1200GS without ABS - partly 'cause I don't want it and partly 'cause it's a lot extra to pay - the only non-ABS bikes appear to be low-chassis & I don't want that either.
If anyone knows of a dealer with availability on a basic or basic + comfort pack, speak up now :rob
The free luggage offer is tempting me !
