New box!

Took the bike back to Clark's in Brum today who have agreed that the bike will have to have a new gearbox.....thank GOD!

I said I would run the bike until it had around 6k on it just to see whether this horrible vibration would go away,.....it hasn't It's been there since day one and has only got worse!

Cheers Clark's for not making me have to fall out with you all and blowing up the showroom over this problem

I was suprised by Clark's today!

I've been after a bar pad for the bars on my GS for sometime now and had ordered a blue and black one from Clarks when I picked the bike up some three weeks ago!

I chased them up today and they said it would be in tomorrow and it would be free of charge due to the wait! Great..Cheers!

This is not like the Clarks of two or three years ago!

Keep it up Clarks the transformation is fantastic, service with a smile.

DON'T blow Clarks up! Great bunch of guys as far as I'm concerned. Just ordered a Remus can off them and they are the cheapest I can find

They lent me a Rockster while the GS was in surgery, what cracking bike to mess about on, bit twitchy on the front end but great fun! Could certainly do with that for commuting etc. Made the GS feel like a tank, what am I talking about, it is a feckin tank!

Well, it was agreed that there was a problem with 4th gear, what was causing it I guess I may never know .

Anyway, I'm going to pick it back up in the morning, so here's to busting in a new box again I'll let ya know how it feels. Gonna miss this little light weight Rockie though, would like to have spent more time playing on it Beemer could have sprayed it all matt black though, those coloured bits are hideous!

I'm hoping to re-kindle my love of the GS again, kind of left a sour taste did that shitty gearbox

Well, I had 4 gearbox rebuilds (by BMW dealer) in 60000 miles on my airhead. I think you may have to get used to it. I think it's widely accepted that BMW don't do gearboxes.
They will NEVER tell you what's wrong. It's secret. But they'll bring out a modification one day and put it into production and nobody will notice. Welcome to the BMW way.

The Triumph way is good too. When paint flakes off components as a result of poor preparation of the part and poor application of the paint, they tell you its corrosion, which they don't cover under the warranty, and they also tell you that you should have cleaned the bike properly too! Hows that for good customer service!!

I guess I had better not mention the 4th gear issues on early 955cc engined bikes and how it was handled either.

I think you're right! It's sad that Beemer can make such a good lump but can't get the bloody box right. Are the 'square heads' really that pig headed and arrogant that they won't creep to Suzuki just a little, for a few tips on building creamy bomb proof gear boxes
