I like CHIGEE device on my bike, as I am a big fan of Apple CarPlay and as many would know, MRA is fully integrated to work with this system.

However, my bugbear has always been with poor contrast of HERE maps that MRA use by default, and on CHIGEE device, these translate into even worse experience. Let’s face it CHIGEE screen does appear to be smaller than that on my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Certain aspects of guidance details aren’t clearly displayed either. For example, in my wife’s car (VW Polo), I can see a number of the exit that I need to take way before I reach the roundabout. The placement of said number isn’t ideal though, as it is displayed within the roundabout shape. On small screen found on CHIGEE, said number and roundabout outline scaled down so small, that it simply does appear as a pixel, meaning even with a. Magnifying glass, you can not read it. So I vaguely read the outline of the roundabout outline and then focus more on the map and a blue line to follow instead of traffic approaching or going round the roundabout.

I just seen a post on MRA forum, that there will be an update coming out with the updated map colours. Let’s hope this will fix the contrast issues on CHIGEE as well as some guidance box text layout.

An update 4.3.0 is due to be out this week.

Addressing the dreaded dull HERE mapping colours for enhanced contrast.

Ability to change from MPH to KMPH from the app, rather than having to logon to your web based account —> account settings —> chose Imperial, Metric or US Imperial setting —> followed by remembering to save the settings. A long winded affair, which finally has been addressed.

I wonder if the syncing applies to future routes I create too? Or whether I need to resync again?

Again, I can’t be arsed to try. I’m learning what it is to be a real bikermate.

If you’ve set it to sync all, you’ll get new routes and changes to existing routes. It auto syncs when starting the app. If you already have the app open you need to manually sync to pickup changes

For use with CHIGEE devices, I can recommend using new Dart map theme, for a much greater contrast and ability to actually see map detail whilst riding/driving along.

Give that one a look in the car today, you are right it looks well. Off out on the bike tomorrow so I'll try it out on the Honda.

OK, I give in. I've tried changing the map style, selecting the Dart colourway but when I go back to the map, it's still as before. I can't see a save button anywhere. I have the Here gold layer selected.

I'm sure it is user error but can someone point out the obvious mistake please.

edit: user error resolved. I was expecting the map style to change immediately but have realised it only changes once you start navigation.
