i was told about this yesterday at CW.

alterations to fuelling + supposedly improves the fuel gauge readings.

Does this apply to all GSA's or just 08 ones? How do you go about getting it done, is it a service thats free or does it require paying for? Sooo many questions!!

This wouldn't be BMW Enhancement No 001316000 by any chance??

I had notification of this through the post today...If its not the ECU upgrade anyone know what it is?

(Naturally I would normally ask the dealer but I'm still waiting for them to call me bacK:rolleyes:)

Interesting - that may be what I just had applied.

After faffing around getting the updates and codes specific to my bike, the tech at BVM let me know that there'd been several updates applied in the reflash just done. Primary one did for the ASC/alarm problem, and there was another one folded in which was for the ECU, though he didn't know further detail.

It may well be the same update with the fuel gauge, as the tech was very nervous about my job; they've got another bike in the shop that's had the same package, and the fuel gauge now... er... doesn't, basically.

He gave me a CD, but I think that's codes and certificates for my bike, not anything useful about the actual update unfortunately. :(

On the plus side my heated grips also work properly...

I think BMW has a modification for all 08 R bikes. The software update is supposed to make R bikes run better. The dealer just did mine. Personally, I think mine runs worse now.

When they run the software if your bike is equipped with a computer the temperature reading will be way off. (Mine said minus thirty-two degrees.) That's okay. Just ride your bike a few miles and the temperature reading will reset.

Apparently (according to one of the other threads) this software upgrade
is to "stop pinking on light throttle and overrun"

told to me by a early type 12GSA riding bmw employee who knows what my bike is, so i assume it is for 06/07 GSAs.

it'll probably be done at the next service unless there is some pressing reason to get it done now.

Its not due a service until October and a recent exhaust probe showed it to be lean at the lower end of the rev range. Just wondered if it was a must do update. Doesnt appear to be any problems when actually riding it.

won't be bothering with mine, which has just had it's 12K service.

New ECU Update for GSA

If you have a 2007 GSA with an LED rear taillight (Touratech or Wunderlich's) both I believe made by Gizmo Mill in British Columbia Canada I bet they will STOP working with the new software. This LED rear flasher is not supposed to work on my 07 GSA but it does flawlessly so I will not be tempting the fates. Cheers!

I got this update over this weekend (07 GSA) and I do think it runs smoother in the low revs.

Got 2 updates on my 07 GSA last weekend :P

The stop pinking etc and also one where the ECU can now tell the mileage of the bike seperately to the speedo. The longest bit is aligning the ECU and speedo readings.
