New engine, new engine number ?

So if you were to sell it privately and the prospective new owner did an Hpi check would it state engine change !

The replacement engine has a number followed by dash 02, i.e. xxxxxxxxxxxx-02. I assume the 02 is convention for engines supplied as one off units. So the new V5 has this number whereas the original V5 had no -2.

My previous bike had a complete engine change due to corrosion. New engine came with a nice slip of paper with the new number printed on it. Made updating the V5 simples :-)

My bike has been fitted with a complete new engine, gearbox and clutch. The engine number is unique to the new engine and cast into the underside of one cylinder. I had to get the V5 updated with the new engine number. Now you have some facts.........oh, and it was replaced under warranty

Plus 1, exactly as above

So new engine/gearbox swingarm and final drive fitted and in answer to my own question, the engine came with a new number and a copy of the shipping label with number written on it.

Engine number stamped on.

Anybody know if the engine number can be "decoded" to give a manufacturing date ?

Also thanks to Allan Jeffries for doing the warranty claim and work very efficiently, even though I bought the bike privately.
