new GS ordered!

Greetings from Malaysia! I am up-grading up from a '09 K1300R. Having owned various Jap bikes ranging from CBR900s to Gold Wings in the past, I can say that a BMW really sets the others apart. I have enjoyed my time with the K1300R and am looking forward to an even better experience with the 1200 GS!

I have ordered a new GS in grey. The bike retails here for GBP26,500. I am going to use the bike mainly on road in the city.

2 question in my mind:
1) Since we are half way through 2011, should I wait another few months for the 2012 model? in which of the coming months would we get earliest details of the 2012 MY changes?

2) If I was to take delivery now, should I opt for wire wheels or the alloy wheels? (no extra cost)

Welcome to the site

If it were me I'd go for the wire wheels... more desirable and look better IMHO.. a bugger to clean though compared to the alloys

Welcome to the site. Wire wheels definitely! But £26,500

There will always be next year's model around the corner, or slight changes in specification. If you're going to keep the bike for a few years, just get it now.

Can anyone tell me, in the UK, do you have to pay any extra for specifying wire wheels? what is standard equipment as to regards to wheels/rims?
