New Guzzi V85 looks good.

Ash....on yer bike...I frequent the burger van there most weeks. They do have some nice bikes. Have bought quite a few from there over the years. They are always keen to do a deal but do require 24 hours notice for a test ride.
Nice roads around there especially around brill.

I think they will bend that rule - I called them just gone 10:00, had a cracking ride via Whipsnade, Wing, Whitchurch and Waddesdon and was on it just gone 11:00

Yup.
I've called them and then gone straight there arriving 30 minutes later. Nice guys and such a contrast from the like of BMW N Oxford !

Popped up to Teasdales today to have a squint through the windy (window licking)... Im very impressed with the overall looks ...i have to say im very tempted by this given the price new in comparison to the Gsa's and the S10 i have been considering.. Surprisingly I like the paintwork (yellow white, red).... Its been hard to find something that is broadly similar to my 1150gs.... Looking forward to some more realworld reviews...

Anyone know what the order turn round will be?

Another very positive review indeed.

It’s overly long but there is a piece to camera at around 11mins and then another a few mins from the end where Simon explains why he really likes the V85

Test ride for me tomorrow. Hopefully I've got it for at least a couple of hours, so that should give me time to see if it's the bike for me. Having said that, after much deliberation I've decided that if I do purchase it will be as a second bike alongside my Tiger 1200.

It's going to have to be good to put as big a smile on my face as my Griso 1100, but sadly, if I purchase the TT the Griso will have to go.
I know Teasdales have 10 bikes winging their way toward them, unfortunately they are all yellow. Not that I don't like the yellow, but I really like the Red White and Black, so if I do order, I may have to wait a while.

Good summary at 17 mins and I found myself nodding in agreement - He even used the charming word :D

He’s says he’d like one in his garage, for me the question is not as simple as that, it’s 'is it good enough to replace one of my bikes in the garage ?'

Ground clearance seems very limiting especially on right handers. On the vid around 4/5 minutes he scrapes the right peg numerous times without pushing it much and not much lean . Shame .

If you read his full review his does say this happened when the corner had tightened up a bit and he was needing to pull it back in, which I think is clear on the vid. The bike was also set up on the lowest rear suspension setting. As a professional bike tester what he describes are moderate lean angles are most probably quite severe for many folk. And just look at those roads, I think I'd be scraping the pegs a lot on my Tiger 1200.

I don't think scraping the pegs is always a bad thing, it's often a heads up to steady up a bit. Don't see why it's a Shame, jack the suspension up 1 notch and it may never be a problem.

Very true .
But it’s Simon Hargreaves on a relatively sedate ride-its not like he’s Shakey Byrne (Ex Fast Bikes mag tester) or Al Fagan from 44teeth (Ex BSB rider).

And if Guzzi choose to launch the bike on such twisty roads and know the ground clearance might be an issue,if it’s so easily dialled out, then why didn’t they set the bikes up better in the first place ?

Those kind of roads are exactly where I’d be taking such a bike-it’s not an M4 bike !

Fair point, hopefully I'll reach my own conclusions tomorrow.

Blade in Swindon have a demo bike on the road - Alan called me a few minutes ago to arrange a test ride. Booked in Thursday AM. If you are riding it today or tomorrow, please do not break it.

Yes, the loud scraping noises in the vid didn’t bode well. I guess it’s the trade-off of a relatively low seat height and relaxed riding position?

Yep , lots of scraping noises but they were quite slow twisty roads, wth very tight bends and I think perhaps he was playing to the camera . I used to scrape the pegs occasionally on my 1200 Sport on roundabouts etc but on quicker roads it never happened. I don’t really think it would be much of an issue at all for 95% of anyone’s riding and like Steve said some of it could be dialled out .

Just seen Steve climbing on the V85, in Thirsk
Await his test thoughts later

...Interesting that MCN reference the GS850

I see the V85TT as a Heart bike as I suspect that the Head would suggest that the BMW GS850 is better in many respects, although I assume the V85TT must score better in being shaft drive - Are MG shaft drives any good? are they known to do big miles
