Next door neighbour just bought a black one and likes it so far :okay

Only issue he has mentioned is riding at night - headlight not very good to start with and when you brake for a corner the front dips enough so the headlight is no longer illuminating the corner :blast

Suggested he puts it in sports mode at night and see if that firms up the front forks under braking.

Did he get the Special with the adaptive headlight? I have that and have to say riding at night is a joy on this bike. The main LED headlight is good and the side firing adaptive one is excellent as you lean the bike.

That said, I am considering putting a pair of Denali D7 pods on as auxiliary lights, but am thinking it might be overkill....

Not sure - will have to ask him.

If he didn't get the Special, he will also have the manually adjustable suspension, so may need to adjust that himself to prevent dive. The active/adaptive suspension on the Special is lovely.

One last thought on this......on my Pan America, the first time I took it out at night, the screen was so bright that it totally destroyed my night vision. I thought they should have added auto dimming functionality to it.

Checked the settings the next morning and sure enough, there it was. Turned off by default.

Had one on show at Silverstone. By eck it’s ugly

:-) Compared to the paragon of beauty that is the GS?

You could just as easily say that all big ADV bikes are ugly. Whether they look like a duck (BMW)/preying mantis (KTM)/robot (HD), etc...

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. I think my one has a kind of sharky look to it:

That view makes it look better by 100%. I clocked it head on and all I could see was a robot from a 1960’s sci-fi programme. I like the fact it’s not a clone (vive la difference), that it’s a Harley, they’ve been bold with some design and in your colour to be fair it looks very smart. I’m just struggling with the headlight.

Maybe a test ride and seeing another one in the flesh will open my eyes a bit more. You’re right about the GS though, it’s no looker. Maybe familiarity has toned down its looks

PS. I had a mk1 Multistrada, I thought it was lovely, everyone else thought it was fugly :D

Great to see another one out in the wild at Brighton speed trials the other weekend
