New HES timing

Hi after my little mishap I've fitted new HES bike runs fine but would like to check timing with strobe but can't spot any marks on flywheel are they very clear my manual only shows setting with locking pin. 2002 1150 single spark

Cheers for the info I've just put the backplate back in same position as the old one its right in centre of the slots runs fine so I think I'll just leave it be

i fitted one on an old rt last year and that is exactly the same as i did and yes the same as you it ran fine

I did the same. The engine will run with the plate at either extreme of the arc, so I doubt it'll be that far out in the middle.

When I replaced mine, I just scribed round the old one and fitted the new one in exactly the same position.
I checked the timing by turning it over by hand and checking if the fuel pump primed at the correct timing mark on the flywheel. It seemed to be right so I just put it back together and used it.
