New KTM 1190 Adventure/R

that the only thing stopping me

Small price to pay for a bike such as this. Fit an electric Scottoiler, spend 20 minutes a week checking/adjusting your chain if necessary, and enjoy the excitement.

I've had shaft's and belt drives for the past 10 years (BMW & Buell), just gone over to a chain drive (990 SMT) and I'm actually enjoying the 'involvement' more. Course it depends on your mileage and riding style, but it's really not that big a deal.

Just had the demo bike out from Vines guildford, told the sales guy exactly the same, not for me :duck:

Anyone have any thoughts or experience on Hepco and Becker:

I have no idea of the prices but not bad in pics eh...that's the boxes not the bike :augie

I have the H and B luggage on mine with the xplorer bags. I'm moving so most of my stuff is in storage but here is a few pictures of the panniers fitted. I will post with top box when I can.
I had these on my Tiger 1200 also. I'm pretty happy with them but if I'm totally honest I think they are overpriced and probably better options out there.

Not like parts are

Fit on the frames never quite seems to be correct on either bike. I need to adjust the right pannier on the KTM to get it to sit straight.
I have used back to black wax on them as they suffer from some "greying" in some areas.

Pity the H&B luggage is not tighter, seems like a lot space between them and the bike!

I have the short Wings exhaust fitted which is slightly lower than the original exhaust. They are probably that far off the bike to allow for the longer, more upright original exhaust.

They look like they're sitting far too high and when you look at the rear view, the panniers and racks are symmetrical to each other. This avoids having a cut-out/slimmer pannier (like the Nomada ones), but to achieve this, they end up as yours have.

I've done it finally gone orange, just sold my Triumph Explorer and have ordered a KTM Adventure with lost of bits.

What's this 'rumour' I hear about them not fitting the correct type of oil filter to the new bike and that it could lead to engine damage????????????

I see that (some) dealers are now doing deals on new 14 model year 1190's with added kit for less than UK RRP :clap

there's a £1000 bonus promo on any part ex against an 1190 at the moment. 50/50 funded by dealer and ktm. i cannot get anything off the bike though, only 10% off accessories. TBH after reading about airbox issues, i'm losing interest.

oh, and now i see the post above about oil filters, it's beginning to look like ktm are worse than bmw :blast

Have not read or heard anything about oil filters. Remember, this engine is used in the RC8 sports bike, so why would the wrong filters be fitted ? As for the air box, can't comment bar that mine is fine and the main complaints seem to be from America and Australia. Not saying there isn't a problem, just I don't have one.....yet.

I heard it was the airfilters that were the problem , mainly in places like South Africa where there is loads of dust , it gets it to the engine and grenades it

Where did you 'hear' that?

There were reports of slight dusting with the early 690s due to the air box bowing but nothing a bead of silicon couldn't fix.
