Yesterday I went to the Vodafone shop to get a replacement for my Samsung SGH300 (the phone that I put through the washing machine last summer) 'cos I damaged the hinge and it wouldn't 'lock' open.

What a difficult job that was.

Vodafone wouldn't do an upgrade to a Motorola v3i which is the phone I wanted 'cos of its mansize dimension and keys that are large enough for my fingers to operate.

They couldn't wouldn't do it unless I canceled my current contract and started a new one. I wanted to keep my phone number.

Anyway, I trogged off to phones4u to see what they could do.

They said they could do the exact deal I was after with a contract that costs £20 a month.

Anyway, after some form filling and waiting they discovered that Vodafone still wouldn't do the upgrade. I know that you can buy the Tesco PAYG phone for around £95 or so.

Anyway, they eventually showed me the new LG Shine (KE970) - what a sexy bit of kit at £280 unlocked. It also has a very passable mp3 player built in.

Trouble was that it was on a £40 a month contract, and I had made it clear that I wasn't prepared to pay more than £20.

Long and short was they set me up, guaranteed that if I go back in a month they could change my contract to the aforementioned £20 a month. They even gave me a £20 note so that they met my demands regarding price.

And then to my delight they threw in a Motorola v3 on a Vodafone PAYG tariff and included the Motoroal software on CD.

So now I have two phones with two numbers.

The LG shine takes a micro-SD card for storing music and photos.

I've looked all over the accompanying booklets and stuff, but nowhere does it tell me what micro-SD card to use. All the bumpf suggests that I need a 1Gb card.

However, I managed to pick up a 2GB car for almost nothing.

Problem: will the phone work with a 2GB or even 4Gb card? Or do I need to stick to 1Gb?
