Went for a short shakedown ride today and met @The Other PaulG for a coffee..

Even a short ride was enough to throw up I had a gearshift problem.

There was only a small amount of clearance between the gear shift lever and the aftermarket side stand, and I struggled to get my boot in the remaining gap..

On closer inspection, the gear-lever was not only poorly adjusted, but was twisted and bent downwards..

A bit of heat and a tweak in the vice got the lever straight again..

And a bit of adjustment got it into a much better position..

Time for a new rubber and we’re good to go.

Also had a petrol weep from the aftermarket fuel filter I installed in a paranoid moment.

Sorted by the simple expedient of replacing the filter and resultant joints with a single length of fuel pipe.
 
That wasn’t the lever I gave you was it?
Wasn’t bent before if it was….. ( well I didn’t think it was, or I would have straightened it before you got it !)
Fit a roller lever instead of the BMW one ( needs the end dremmelling off) but makes it a far nicer change.

I honestly can’t remember Dave.

Good idea re the roller - reminds me of my old Karmann Ghia. I had a skateboard wheel on the end of the throttle pedal. AVK40H where are you now ?
 
Off down the Post Office this morning to apply for zero rated VED and get the G/S tax class changed to ‘historic’

Got my V5C, V10, V112 and insurance documents all to hand.

And today the new V5C arrived back from DVLA.

It now has official ‘historic vehicle’ status and is taxed until end of March 2027.
