new R 1300GS

I witnessed the Gilera 3 wheeler being ridden round Istanbul Park. Lean angles like you wouldn't believe, as fast as you want, all with massive practicality. I also saw one ridden down a motorway entry ramp at impressive speed and lean angle. They look a real hoot, if you can get past typical biker stereotyping.

still the image would hurt.... These are at least 10-15 years ahead of their time (my time) in image terms....

I didn't use to think I was conservative and backwards, but I 'd rather walk tbh....or ride my wife's british racing green Pashley Princess bike complete with leather ladies saddle and basket...

these 3 wheelers are "cool" in a totally uncool way. Bit like a pink Lamborghini.... Spells TW*T all over the place...

But then again, "coolness" has different geographical interpretations... What is a no go in London, might be cool in Istanbul... and vice versa....

put myself down for one anyway.

they have 5 firm orders already - poss delivery july '10

I am sure there were 3 going round the 'Ring last thursday on a 'closed' test morning.

I know you will think this odd, but I am sure they have a different firing order.

almost sounded like a Ducati

'big bang' BMW ?

I have never, and will never, be a cool person. I have yet to try one of the 3 wheelers, but if I do and I like them I'll buy one because it puts a grin on my face, I'll not be put off because of what others think.

Rightly said, I remember buying my 1150 when I was 27 (every one I knew had sports bikes)and I was absolutly ridiculed the piss taken regular for not just having a BMW (pipe n slippers) but having the most ugly BMW ever made and then that film star rode around the world and hey I became cool with a cool bike that every one wanted..
I hear that George clooney wants one of them three wheeler things :augie :)

pah! Personally I'm waiting for the R1500GS FluxCap

After a week riding around Austria/Germany/Italy/Switzerland/Leichtenstein with most of BMWs fleet at our disposal I fancy a K1300GSA complete with a quickshifter:drool

If they would build me one:cool:

It's not exactly an adventure bike. Fail imho. KTM are laughing!

Feckin tart's handbag, first time you sling it up the road it'll be like an explosion in a tuppaware factory.[/QUOTE]

Bit like any other motorcycle on the planet then eh :augie

how does that work then?

on a bike with only two cylinders what variation in firing order can there be

you buy a GS to do something different - or you did to start with.

it looks so hideous i can't describe how bad in words.

utter utter shite

.....well you could go 'big bang' and have them both firing at once - however I suspect the only big bang from that setup would be the gearbox exploding.

Ahh on the current GS when you press the starter button the left hand cylinder fires first.

on the new one it is the right hand cylinder:)

I would have thought there could be 360 variations

Vincent - 50
Ducati - 90
Harley - 45
Truimph- 360
Honda - 180

Its just some of them are no good :augie

They can't filter for shit - I overtake one everyday on the way to work. And the point of a scoot that's shite at filtering???

.......bit off topic.

It's not what you ride, it's how you ride it. Don't blame the MP3 or whatever if the guy riding it can't filter.

Unfortunately these things tend to be bought by people who know as much about riding PTWs as I do about brain surgery... :augie

I come across people who are incapable of filtering (on any brand of motorcycle you care to mention) every day. I just wish they'd use their mirrors and move over to let me buy but they're too busy not falling off.

Generally, yes I'd agree, filtering is a state of mind - however, I think the MP3's wide front wheel setup means you can't get it snug up against the curb to get through on the inside / outside. Also I suspect you can't lean it off vertical to get weave past wing mirrors or that full lock is up to much to ease around the back of cars. Just my observations of the machine.

As you say, they seem like a great concept to people who have no idea of PTWs or how to use them.

Ultimate solution through London is still the SH300 I think..........I would think that, I've got one :)

Again......a bit off topic :topic:augie:thumb

Not at all,I'll have you know my 1100 has had several trips up the road, and no tupperware to be seen(a couple of written off cars though:P)
