has anyone on here bit the bullet and purchased the new 1300 rs , if so how are you getting on with it ,thanks

Yup, I bought one at the end of July, so one of the very first ones.

I did a day of tyre kicking at my local dealership (with no intention to buy) and was amazed when they offered me £2k more than I expected for a Gen 2 S1000 XR which I had always loathed! So I thought sod it, lets change for the new RS, sight unseen, it can't be worse than the XR! I'm a little surprised at the figures quoted on here, but I bought a Triple Black SE with Comfort Passenger Seat, Touring Pack & Top Case for bang on £17k, so nowhere near GS money.

I've not ridden it that much, but so far, so good. I think it looks great and I keep getting flattering comments from random strangers. I'm 5' 9" and it fits me like a glove and is far less 'sporty' than the reviewers led me to believe. It has plenty of low down grunt and I'm beginning to think that it might end up as a keeper. So a thumbs up from me.

Only downside is that I'm still waiting on the Topcase, which is all but ready apart from 8 screws which are on back order with Germany. For me, until it is fitted, the bike is a bit impractical.

Hmm, I wouldn't like to recommend the dealer, so least said the better.

My bike does not have the Riding Assistant option.

Most likely because all the reviews I've seen are on bikes with the £3200 sports pack, which has a sportier ride than the other RS' ?

I also went from an XR to a RS. I’d had a 1250RS and fancied a change so went for a 4 cylinder bike. I’ve got that out of my system so back to a twin. It’s like everything and not perfect but on the whole I like it. All I need now is some better weather

So, even the cooking version is too wristsy resulting in numb fingers, even with the high bars option fitted according to SH. Oh well that's disappointing, back in my 1250 box then by the looks of things...... Based on this I wonder if well looked after 1250s will become sought after in the future if the 1300 proves to be too uncomfortable for existing RS owners

I reckon so , same as 1250GS and RT are now sought after as their replacements are too sporty for many

Or just wait for Wunderlich to bring out the tubular bar conversion

Yes. I see the OP dates. But being a child of library stacks I do not dismiss possible useful information of any age.

With some help from a cretin government ex-colonials are seeing this machine perhaps much later than anticipated originally. For many decades Admiral Pillion and I have hired R-----RS bikes in Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Germany, etc. I had the opportunity to test a new demo R80GS, Road Atlanta, several laps, long, long time ago. R bikes work. I know them. We know them. We've never actually owned one until a month ago. We rode the first K100Rs in Tennessee, a lot. We suffered the Bologna addiction for a couple of decades. Then the Admiral gave me a first year S1RR for BD69. Did probably my last track day last year. 82YO.

We've been on an S1xr since 2019, About 89,000k. It's top heavy. Stupid difficult at my age to manage, two-up below 20k on stop and go, park, un-park... Above 20, fastest giraffe in SE NA mountains.

We live back of nowhere and went to have a try-on first R1300RS within half day drive. I was set on Red White, Blue and adjustable foot pegs. But, Triple Black it is. Bought it. Far more age appropriate for us anyway. I'm a silk and satin smooth snob. But, now-days my left hand and wrist pain is an absolute limit on our day. Any typical day ride for us will require many hundreds of shifts, Never touch fifth or sixth. This ASA I thought would just be my compromise. Not at all. In manual, second and up it is my match all day long. And end of day - nolo contendre... This R1300RS will be my "Bop till drop" ride, and not slowly..

Parting - Three stages of two-up riding
1. Talking tail trunk.
2. Life long mountain dance partner.
3. Ménage à trois.

R1300RS = solid Trois
