Yeah.....makes a lotta senseI'll stick with my old 1200(lupin lighter faster and far sexier version of the RS).
i am still thinking about it but going to wait till next year , which dealer did you use ? does your bike have the radar cruise ,and the blind spot mirrors thanksYup, I bought one at the end of July, so one of the very first ones.
I did a day of tyre kicking at my local dealership (with no intention to buy) and was amazed when they offered me £2k more than I expected for a Gen 2 S1000 XR which I had always loathed! So I thought sod it, lets change for the new RS, sight unseen, it can't be worse than the XR! I'm a little surprised at the figures quoted on here, but I bought a Triple Black SE with Comfort Passenger Seat, Touring Pack & Top Case for bang on £17k, so nowhere near GS money.
I've not ridden it that much, but so far, so good. I think it looks great and I keep getting flattering comments from random strangers. I'm 5' 9" and it fits me like a glove and is far less 'sporty' than the reviewers led me to believe. It has plenty of low down grunt and I'm beginning to think that it might end up as a keeper. So a thumbs up from me.
Only downside is that I'm still waiting on the Topcase, which is all but ready apart from 8 screws which are on back order with Germany. For me, until it is fitted, the bike is a bit impractical.
Hmm, I wouldn't like to recommend the dealer, so least said the better.i am still thinking about it but going to wait till next year , which dealer did you use ? does your bike have the radar cruise ,and the blind spot mirrors thanks
Long old story and not wanting to hijack the original thread, but for anyone who's interested: https://www.s1000xr.uk/index.php/topic,8789.msg71969.html#msg71969Why did you loathe the XR ?
Most likely because all the reviews I've seen are on bikes with the £3200 sports pack, which has a sportier ride than the other RS' ?Yup, I bought one at the end of July, so one of the very first ones.

So, even the cooking version is too wristsy resulting in numb fingers, even with the high bars option fitted according to SH. Oh well that's disappointing, back in my 1250 box then by the looks of things...... Based on this I wonder if well looked after 1250s will become sought after in the future if the 1300 proves to be too uncomfortable for existing RS owners
I reckon so , same as 1250GS and RT are now sought after as their replacements are too sporty for manySo, even the cooking version is too wristsy resulting in numb fingers, even with the high bars option fitted according to SH. Or just wait for Wunderlich to bring out the tubular bar conversionSo, even the cooking version is too wristsy resulting in numb fingers, even with the high bars option fitted according to SH. Yes. I see the OP dates. But being a child of library stacks I do not dismiss possible useful information of any age.has anyone on here bit the bullet and purchased the new 1300 rs , if so how are you getting on with it ,thanks
Didn't I read on here that you thought the new 1300Rs was the best bike you'd ever ridden, Mike?Or just wait for Wunderlich to bring out the tubular bar conversion
