New r1250 gs withheld

And the time taken for each service is 3 times as much. The work required on the KTM V-twins for each service is ridiculous compared to the boxer…

Anyway, it is what it is. But bragging about KTM service interval vs BMW is a bit like bragging about having a fat ugly wife...

3 times as much? Where on earth did you hear that? My KTM’s are no more expensive to service than any of my GS’s.

If you read what I actually wrote, I said it takes 3 times as much (perhaps I should have said 3 times as long), I did not mention the cost.

According to the KTM procedure, you have to remove the fuel tank at every service 15K and at 30K intervals you check the valves.
On BMW this 10K and 20K.

The thing is, the oil change part is: Remove bashplate, 3 screws (if used), open the ONE magnetic drainplug and drain the oil. Then unscrew the oilfilter, which is car-type.
By the time the fuel tank on the KTM is off, the BMW is done...
Anyway, I think the KTM is no worse than Honda AT and many more bikes in it's class, it's the BMW with it's boxer design which is extremely simple to service.

You daft lot.

What manufactured product is built with components from the highest bidder:D

Triumph Daytona 675R.... I never understood how Triumph made any money on that bike...

- £9000 brand new 2012 675R
- Carbon Fibre parts everywhere
- Ohlins front and rear suspension
- Brembo Brakes
- Braided Hoses
- SuperCorsa Tyres
- Lightweight magnesium wheels
- Premium quickshifter
- Arrow Titanium Exhausts
.... and then you got a bloody good motorcycle engine under all that lot

It’s sad to see intelligent, grown men arguing about whose bike is best......

You’re doing it all wrong. Always get the butler to take care of the servicing. If the tank needs removing, he can get himself covered in petrol doing so.

This post was started by a member that experienced that his new bike was withheld because of a brake issue.
Leaks have been mentioned in other posts, but no one in her KNOWS for sure what the problem is all about.
The debate started out based on the assumption that the current non-Brembo brakes are a stepdown in quality and performance, even if anyone riding the 1250 notice that the all over brake performance has improved.
Then there is the moaning about cutting costs, and the unwillingness to realize that continuous cost cutting is the way to go for any business that wants to stay alive. (my wife is an exception, she does not cut costs, and she is still alive. But then, she is not a company).
Then, the usual KTM debate comes up. I don't mind KTM, but I don't want one, and it holds absolutely no relevance to the subject. The next few pages turns into another pissing contest of BMW vs KTM.

Now that all the previous pages have been summed up, may we return to the subject?
We know that the bike was withheld, but is there any progress, and have anyone else experienced that the bike was withheld ?

Yep, yet again, Engineer has come in and fucked up a decent thread with his petty jealousy and inferiority complex.

A few faulty components that can be simply repaired is one thing, the inherent KTM design fault of speed wobbles is a higher level of crap all together.

I’m so glad I didn’t buy a KTM

Until that post, it was going well.:blast

It takes two to tango........or in this case 3 or 4.

But it could be more, I can't go past 5 as I need one hand to type.
