it is a ferry to Norway……nearly, just have to drive a few milesHa! Just think of all the extra camper vans and motorhomes that could flood the highlands!
It’s a ferry to Norway we really need again!

Not sure how a ferry to France is going to flood northern Scotland? Can you explain? It’s not as if the French are going to use it. Is it?Ha! Just think of all the extra camper vans and motorhomes that could flood the highlands!

That’s the problem………the ferry doesn’t make money cause depends on freight traffic, not a load of scooters!! Same, same as last one.Wishful thinking at the moment I'm afraid...needs some financial input from either Westminster or Holyrood, not really a lot, £3M or so, but I sense no real appetite for such spending.
Hope I'm wrong!
Agree completely. A ferry route to Scandinavia would be great and wouldn’t be competing with other providers on the European routes. There’s lots of attributes Scotland enjoys, but having the means to provide an economic and viable ferry service to mainland Europe isn’t one of them.
I’d wager my last fiver that the service wouldn’t be running an ECO-flex, gas-powered green ferry.I agree with all you lot say……BUT….. there’s a new thing to think about nowadays. The ECO point of view.
Think about all those 12 mtr trailers that could be taken off the M6/M74, A1 etc roads . Perhaps this factor may help.

The planned new ferry route between Rosyth in Scotland and Dunkirk (Nord) has been delayed once more and now looks unlikely to be up and running before 2026.
DFDS, the ferry operator planning the route, said last year that it aimed to start a three-times-a-week service from spring 2025.
However, it admitted in January that the project had been delayed.
Enough time to fleece you for cabins, two maybe three meals and booze (I bet it’s an overnighter). How long would that crossing take?
It’s also a wet dream?! lolAlmost certain to be overnight...guessing at 20hrs, give or take
The thought of jumping on a ferry less than 2 hrs from home is an attractive one..
