OK. Has anybody who uses the A40/48 round gloucester noticed that they have changed the speed limits? Dawned on me this morning as I was trogging alonf that there were 50 mph repeater signs where they hadn't been before. :blast

Did they advertise this anywhere? I certainly did not spot any temporary signs warning of the change.

Used to come out of Minsterworth 50 limit up to national speed limit all the way round Gloucester on A48 then A40/48.

Now they have replaced the national speed limit sign in Minsterworth with a small repeater 50sign. And it is 50 all the way through Over to the Twigworth roundabout. Same going the other way.

Wonder how many people have been caught unawares, B******s. :spitfire

Yes. In tiny print in the back of the Gloucester Citizen and probably the Echo. The 'ad' will have been couched in faux Dickensian legal English and intentionally as difficult to understand as possible.

But it wouldn't matter if you'd objected. We did over here in Oxon - 70 objections against a set of new limits, 12 letters 'for' the limits.

So the council installed them.

Welcome to the world of local authority 'consultation'.

There did indeed.

The A40 used to be known as "Gatso Alley". The cameras were some of the most cynically-placed I've seen. All on clear, open straights where overtakes were safe and easy. Funny thing was, once the new Guidelines for camera placement came in, the cameras that were pulled down never got re-erected. Partnership couldn't make any case for them being there, even under the lame and limping rules in the Guidelines.

But it's OK - under the new Guidelines, published in Jan this year they're just fine again. Perhaps that's why we've seen a new rash of Talivans lately...

Same is happening on the A49 near Hereford. NSL down to 50 at Wellington, 40 down to 30 at Holmer. They were erecting the signs last week.

I noticed the 50 signs by the Dog at Over, but that's a good idea given the twats that race up the RH lane before standing on their brakes for the Newent turning. Beats me why they can't remember from the day before that they'll have to either A) stop if the lights are red or B) slow to the 20 or so needed to negotiate the turning? There's always a queue there anyway.

Sadly, you can't legislate for fools.

I was delighted to see a camera van on the road through Tredworth cemetary a couple of weeks back. They caught 80 numpties in a morning: excellent! I wish it would come down my road; it's all of 130 yards long, cul-de-sac, 20mph, children playing football, on little push bikes etc. yet the retarded pillocks floor it up to 50 or so saving all of a couple of seconds.

Trawled all through the smilies but I couldn't find one of a fat, slack jawed, knuckle dragging, brain dead, burger stuffing, lager swilling neanderthal.

Regards, Mick

One guess where the camera van will be parked then. In the layby on the Northern Bypass. Thought that the could only be used for the rest and repair of vehicles, but no doubt they have got round that. Will try and find out from my contact in the " Saftey " partnership if the road is going to be enforced and post the result.
Hope to see some of you at Bikesafe at Cheltenham later this month.

And as an added bonus

Hi Bob

Just to let you know Protyre Gloucester & Eclipse Tyres Alcester will be there, both branches which I look after in my area.

There will be some special show prices on tyres on our stand for the weekend but we will not be fitting however it can be arranged to have fitment done at either branch at a later date.

Regards

Chris Mullins

Area Manager Midlands.

Very good company and both managers are bikers.

Excellent. I'll be there. Went last year just after getting my new tyres from Protyres (great service) and had them filled with the liquid gunge while I was there.

Are you suggesting I need a passport to get out of the forest Tmmo? My parents were not related, honest (well not before they married anyway) and as my user-name suggests, I didn't actually originate from the forest.

See you all there.
