Went to Vines today to try on the new System 6 Evo. I had a Schuberth C3 and eventually gave it a way because it was really uncomfortable. I now have a Shoei Neotec and not that happy at the moment as it constantly fogs up unless I ride with the visor up :(

The question is.....Do I try again with the system 6 Evo or keep trying with the Neotec.

Any comments?

Cheers

If I go for the BMW I'll probably get the bluetooth kit as well!!!

Ive the 6 with the bluetooth kit. I like it, I find it confortable and doesn't fog up. The bluetooth kit is spot on, anyone who calls on phone says its clear reception. Pairs to iPhone & nav unit.

Thats just my opinion

My multitec doesn't fog up at all, i'm assuming you've fitted the pinlock insert to your neotec

I'm very impressed with the original S6 - which also has the excellent, if pricey, Bluetooth fitted. No fogging, even on extremely cold days.
Th one drawback with the S6 and which may not afflict the Evo, is the visor seems easily dislodged and cannot be fixed but which requires a replacement helmet....

Try Before You Buy

Thi highlights an interesting point. Lids are a matter of personal taste, fit is unique to the individual and hygiene means you can't test ride a helmet before you buy it. It's a significant expense, so you'd think dealers would allow some sort of returns policy if the lid proved to be uncomfortable or whatever.

Good point, well made.
In fact, before Hein Gericke went tits-up last year, they did exactly during their swansong year.
You wouldn't have been able to road test a BMW helmet at HG, though.

I wonder if the pinlock is faulty.
Last weekend Neotec, 40 miles, zero degrees, all vents and visor shut, No fogging in the pinlock area.

Not convinced on hygiene being an issue

Every dealer lets you try a helmet in the shop otherwise how do you determine what size to buy

However trying in the shop is not the same as trying on a bike

With respect to the pinlock, have you tried adjusting the pins to make sure there's a perfect seal between the pinlock and the visor. They're not perfectly round (eccentric?) and designed to rotate to adjust the tension. If there's even a slight gap in the seal between the visor and the pinlock you can get condensation between them

Now for my question. I currently have a C3 which is due for replacement. I'm lead to believe that the C3 was (and maybe still is) the only flip that had certification as a full face rather than the open face that flips are usually tested as.

Is the System 6 the same?

thanks for the comments. I can confirm that the pinlock is working fine! Vents are open and it still mists up inside :(

Had a ride home from work this evening in the rain and dark. Spent most of it with the visor up as I couldn't bloody see.

Helmet has already been replaced due to the seal leaking. I may be expecting too much from a helmet but who knows.

I've worn my C3 in horrendous, wet & cold conditions and have had the visor steam up all around the periphery of the pinlock, which itself stayed clear. :thumb2

Out today in the pouring rain. Visor fogged up again mostly on the right hand side. Just as much rain on the inside than the outside! It was horrible, going back to my XR1100.
