Other options..
The big question to ask your self, having gone over various options with customers, is how often are you honestly going to use them?
A set of throw overs will do most people very well, expecially a good make such as ortlieb who do waterproof ones, add an ortlieb rackpack for bulky items and your set up for quite some carrying capacity.
I have Touratech Panniers on my 1150 and they have done me a great job, costly and maybe not to everyones looks but worth a look if your gong to be riding regularly and needing to carry items.
The "Pelican" cases are another popular option, and they are pretty rugged and tough, though tend to suffer from the side openning issue. Top loading for panniers can be best, as you don't wind up with gear spilling out. But for toughness and durability pelicases are certainly amoungst the top runners imho.
If you want adive on soft luggage options and rackpacks feel free to drop me a line or have a look my store ; http://www.gearpac.com
I don't have any ortlieb panniers in at the moment, but can russle up some information for you if its of interest. They also do a nifty tank bag as well.
What ever you wind up with, hope it does the trick. As said right at the start, its can be a right can of worms, and much is down to personal preferances..
Good luck..
