New Toy!

cheeky

Well,

After an innocent inquiry at the dealer on how much it would cost me to change from a '56 plate 1200GS to a new one while my bike was in having a new engine cover under warranty the seed was planted.

So Easter Saturday off to the dealer for a test ride on a 2008 1200GS - the long and the short of it is that by the time I walked out of the dealer the deposit was paid and I had arranged to collect my new one last Friday.

I went for the Silver with the Premium and Dynamic packs together with the BMW alarm - the bike was in stock with the dealer and I got a good deal on the trade in and purchase price.

Picked the bike up yesterday AM in the wet and went to work, rode home on it last night. Went out greenlaning on my KLX250 with some of the customers from SLM so am looking forward to getting some road miles done on the new bike tomorrow to try and play spot the difference with the old one. My first feeling is that the bike feels physically smaller both in length and 'bulk'.

Just been up to my parents to fit all the parts taken off my old one. The lack of relays under the tooltray means that the Autocom now fits in here which is handy. Also the opening in the side panel is handy to run the Autocom lead out from.

All I need now is a new headlamp protector - ideally one which does not reflect most of the light back at me.

Pics to follow when I sort out the lead for the camera.

Can you give us any idea on the cost to change? Mine is a 57 plate, but still interested on what they gave you in P/X. Be as woolly as you like, ball park ideas will be fine.

Cheers dan

The change from 08 GS to 09 GSA cost me a bit more than ideal but less than I was expecting!!!

Total cost of running 08GS (incl fuel, insurance etc...) was £0.48 p/mile.
