New V2 engine

It’ll probably go ina few bikes.
Shame the outgoing V2 in the street fighter was a lot more powerful ..

That engine in that bike was an absolute peach and being honest was a better engine for that bike on roads but the rest of the bike was cheapened off compared to the V4 bike

Yeah shame they didn’t do an S
17 kg lighter is impressive though

I was seriously tempted to swap my V4 for one until I test rode

The whole bike felt so much cheaper than mine switch gear etc etc the riding position was better though which also came as a surprise as I expected a same bike different engine but totally different

It broke down 2 miles into the test ride

Uses conventional valves as you can’t have variable valve timing with the Desmo set up

That’s funny , my 1260 with variable valve timing is a desmo engine ? ;)
I thought it was just a cheaper engine built in India ?

That’s true ,
maybe it is down to the price they are hoping to market this new bike at .
I was quoting the 44 teeth channel they were discussing it .

I still like the air cooled 2 valve V twin in my Monster 1100

What’s the obsession with power on here ?
The new Streetfighter is much much lighter and much cheaper .

Unless you’re a riding god, I’d grab the £2500 saving and get the more usable new bike .

Sanity before vanity.

Have you ever been to a Ferrari Challenge day? Cocks and balls on display with the £10000 a day whores as a back up to validate manhood.
Who gives a shit about sanity in that price bracket?
You don’t follow the Rolex thread? Every time Warlock puts a post up I can smell come from the screen 🤣

It was no different 50 years ago when my grandfather took me to a horse market. Beautiful, fast animals but useless for everyday work 😉

I like the looks of the newer V2. It has what I've come to believe is the best combination of power/weight for the road and real world riding. Around 120bhp is plenty in the right hands and an all up mass of 176Kg is a significant amount less than the outgoing model, which should translate to sharper handling and braking. I've often regarded the Aprilia RSVR Mille as one of the best, most usable road bike's I ever owned. At 128BHP (crank) and anywhere from 110 to 117BHP (RW) combined with a weight of around 187Kg it felt nigh on perfect. I had the 147BHP Edwards rep RSVR too and it felt no quicker on the road than the more tractable RSVR, but was slightly better on track due to a higher top end. Not the best track bike compared with more powerful IL4's and V4's but you could exploit it to the full on the road without it ever getting out of hand and it was still a fast machine by any standards (for a Vee twin). The new Ducati has similar specs, although slightly less power and at last they've made the thing look like it won't cripple the rider after 20 minutes in the saddle. Sensible bar position and more legroom will work in its favour.

Shame they haven't managed to match the Multi V4 for valve services on this engine - valve checks at 18,000 miles rather than 36,000?

Considering that most people use them as toys, first and second owners probably not bothered. On the Multi maybe the second owner will have to deal with. On the R1250 is every 12000 miles. No one is complaining.
